Who is attending the Pearl-Guide Ruckus 2016, July 29, 30, 31???

I originally set-up my payments to automatically include a 20% tip for Uber drivers. I think they got rid of that feature. One of the Uber draws is that no cash changes hands. You step in and step out. So I don't tip -- I just thank with a smile and the drivers rate me highly. And I them.

An Uber driver told me that Uber keeps the tips when you set an automatic tip. They don't go to the drivers. He told me to make sure my account wasn't set to auto-tip. I don't know if that is true or not, but it is what I was told.

Seems completely illegal. And if not actually illegal, immoral. Wow.

Uber doesn't have tipping. I just signed up for it and there's no option for it. I've heard Lyft does, though. Although, if it's all automatic on the credit card, I don't see how it makes a difference.

I don't recall Uber having a tip function (I've only used it in San Francisco though). I assumed that since they are independent contractors that tipping was not expected (hence the no tip option on the app). I too have just thanked people and rated them highly. I like it better than cabs - its a very efficient system. The cars are always in good shape and the people are always friendly. I only wish the cars were more clearly marked as I have a hard time knowing a Ford from a Honda from whathaveyou (I am not a car person), so I have had a few times when I have approached people who weren't actually my driver (but were just parking).

I follow Jeremy's line of thinking on this...whether it is Uber or a Taxi or a limo I always tip even if it is just a rounding up of the bill. Say a 12$ ride I'll give 15$ if there is no assistance and higher if there is ( help with bags etc - then it's tip + 1$ per bag) and definitely use a higher percentage on a smaller bill. ( my husband and I disagree on most tipping as he's Australian and due to the high minimum wage here tipping is at a slightly lower % and less expected than in the USA.)

i will be getting in at something like 7AM on Friday, so basically i have time to WALK out to the Ruckus...LOL! if anyone else getting in Friday AM wants to share an Uber, i'm happy for company on my ride!

(and thank you for all uber tips and tricks! i've never used it before, i will probably feel naked without my very own car to drive. but i will be brave!)

WHEEE! I just got the itinerary for Ruckus. I'm so excited and looking forward to it.

I should warn you that I do not have appropriate "cocktail party" clothing, so you'll just have to take me in my Supplex travel clothing. But I will wear Eowyn's Starry Mantle, because it's rather dressy, so I hope you won't notice the tacky travel clothing underneath.

I'll be getting to LAX about 12:30 p.m. on Friday. If anyone else will be there the same time, let me know and maybe we can Uber to PP together.

I just hope you're bringing enough tiaras to share, BWeaves.

Unfortunately, I would need to check a very large suitcase in order to bring tiaras for everyone, so in total fairness, I'm not bringing any. I'm only bringing one small carry on for 7 days travel.

If I lived in the area, you'd all have tiaras to wear, because I could drive in. Maybe after I win the lottery.

I'm arriving at LAX at 11:30 on Friday, if anyone wants to meetup and share an Uber ride, I'll be happy for the company. This will be my first Uber experience too. Life is so different when you live 20 miles outside of the city! #soexcited #cantwaitforruckus #itsgonnabefunfunfun

Fair enough ;) Though if you wear one on the plane, at least you'll have your cocktail attire ready to go!

I want to see BWeaves go through TSA wearing her Tiara. Or at least a picture from the airplane fully crowned.
