Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

All such pretty combinations, BWeaves!

Aloha! A quick Hawaiian escape to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. I can’t seem to have enough of these adorable stuffed seashells from Kojima. They keep getting smaller and more dainty. Wearing the new necklace with FW earrings I made.

Thanks, BWeaves! It’s a sweet necklace. Wearing it again with blue baroque Akoya studs from Takahashi.

I pass this landmark on my morning walks when I’m here. I have for years. I don’t remember it ever being so populated with pigeons. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess they’ve taken a liking to the location.

Visiting Dad today. Kasumi and amethyst earrings from Kojima. Chinese ripples from Pacific Pearls. I'd love a strand of real Kasumi pearls, but these ripples look amazing and were a fraction of the price. I knotted them on rose pink Serafil from Pattye.

Peering through windows-
I posted photos of the wall decor from the shop in San Francisco before. This sister store in Hawaii has more of a pearl focus.

These custom jewelry places have been popping up everywhere. Craft your own jewelry or have something designed for you. A little inspo maybe?

When I was looking at one of the Na Hoku windows, the sun was full on hitting the window. The pic didn’t turn out great, but I wanted to show how not all Tahitians lose their color in the sun. This pair of earrings gloriously exhibited their green and peacock color.

WOWZA! JEG, I'm drooling over those window shots. Both the wall art and the pearl jewelry.

Just chilling at home in pearls. Coin pearls I restrung with Mom's clasp. I think it works better with the coin pearls than with small round pearls. Freshwater drops from Kojima worn on my own diamond hoops. Betty Davis' Teeth necklace from Kojima. I named it because it reminded me of Betty Davis' teeth from some movie I had just watched.

BWeaves, I LOVE Coral Atoll; all those glorious colors and circles :)
Jeg, Thanks so much ... I live near the wrong ocean! The window display photos are amazing; definitely inspiration there aplenty ;)

I have no pearl photos tonight, just a funny story. So W is watching Retro TV tonight ... Vintage Roger Moore as Simon Templar, aka The Saint. I was reading, until it dawned on me the plot line involved giant pearls set charm style on a Missing/Found/Missing grand necklace, women trying on ropes of tiny tiny tiny pearls, senoritas, a lady named Consuelo and lots of burros, all set in El Mar de Cortez, Mexico ... I'll have to watch for this episode again to see who ended up with that necklace! Update: W informs me I missed most of the story, involving a search for pearl beds, swindlers, a blind hero needing an operation to restore his sight, a fake copy of the necklace, which Simon sold to pay for the operation while the evil ex wife gleefully returned home wearing the fake copy of the grand necklace, none the wiser ... a lot of plot for an hour! W somehow is vindicated in his decision to watch Retro TV because .... Pearls lol ...

Thanks, BWeaves and Cathy! I forget about taking pics when I’m window shopping, so since I’m still here, I took several snapshots while walking around today. First, I got such a late start that there was all sorts of activity going on, including a hula show taking place by the Banyan Tree.

WOWZA. Gorgeous window shopping.

Visiting Dad today. One of my Dad's lady friends fondled my pearls. A fellow pearl lover.

Ocean's Cove TNT necklace (Tourmalines and Tahitians). Longer Tahitian strand from Kojima, I think. Tahitian pendant "La Perlagrina" from Kamoka. Opal and Tahitian drop earrings from Kojima. I bought these all at different times, but they all match. I'm drawn to certain pearl colors.

Wow- the ripples really give a lot of bang for the buck. They have an other-world quality with that acid green, coppery pink, and violet. And you can have the funky organic ripple texture and sharp luster- in the same pearl! They look amazing on you. I think this may be my next thing.

Beautiful photos jeg and it's so wonderful that the Banyon tree is recovering!

That’s some eye candy, Jeg! Thank you for posting pictures of your travels! I always enjoy living vicariously through your pearl journeys!

Thanks so much, BWeaves, Pattye, CatMom and Pearls&Pugs! CatMom, I haven’t seen the Banyan tree in Maui since the fires. This one is the very healthy centerpiece on Waikiki Beach. I was all excited on my flight home, because as soon as we were up in the air I was able to tune in to the PP Live event from Hong Kong, already in progress. Unfortunately, once we got too far over the Pacific I kept losing reception. I’ll need to catch up later today. Hope to see some of the items on PG!

Natural white Akoya necklace from Takahashi, with a Paspaley SS necklace from Cees, and FW earrings I made.

Inaugural post / no longer a lurker!

Hello pearl lovers! I’m pleased to make my first post here as a newish pearl enthusiast. Being from the south, pearls were always around, but usually just the standard white strands - typically freshwater or maybe akoya if it was a wedding present (although I didn’t know the difference until recently!). For my wedding I wore pearl studs and a white pearl strand my husband gave me that day as a wedding gift. My “something borrowed” was a double-strand white freshwater bracelet my dad had given my mother the first Christmas after I was born. Fast-forward 10 years to today, where I have discovered the complex and fascinating world beyond strands of white freshwater pearls and pearl studs!

My enlightenment came from blue akoyas. I fell in love! I found this forum, and it has been an education! So after acquiring some items, I now have some photos to share! My current styling is somewhat limited since I have a toddler and newborn with grabby hands, so dangly things are a danger.

Typically my styling consists of this. Silver blue akoya studs, with a baby nearby. But they make me feel put together during these postpartum days.
IMG_4281.jpeg

On one rare outing I was feeling brave so added a baroque silver-blue akoya tin cup (the Terra necklace from PP!).
IMG_4280.jpeg

Today we are venturing out for an appointment, and I went so far as to pair some creamy freshwater studs (no idea where I got them years ago but the luster is really amazing on them) with a freshwater keshi tin cup worn as a lariat. Even though I’m wearing a sweater and yoga pants, I feel much more put together. We’ll see how long it lasts, because coupled with my hair down, it’s a major grabby baby hands risks :)

Thank for indulging me and thanks for all the wonderful posts on this thread!
