Inaugural post / no longer a lurker!
Hello pearl lovers! I’m pleased to make my first post here as a newish pearl enthusiast. Being from the south, pearls were always around, but usually just the standard white strands - typically freshwater or maybe akoya if it was a wedding present (although I didn’t know the difference until recently!). For my wedding I wore pearl studs and a white pearl strand my husband gave me that day as a wedding gift. My “something borrowed” was a double-strand white freshwater bracelet my dad had given my mother the first Christmas after I was born. Fast-forward 10 years to today, where I have discovered the complex and fascinating world beyond strands of white freshwater pearls and pearl studs!
My enlightenment came from blue akoyas. I fell in love! I found this forum, and it has been an education! So after acquiring some items, I now have some photos to share! My current styling is somewhat limited since I have a toddler and newborn with grabby hands, so dangly things are a danger.
Typically my styling consists of this. Silver blue akoya studs, with a baby nearby. But they make me feel put together during these postpartum days.
On one rare outing I was feeling brave so added a baroque silver-blue akoya tin cup (the Terra necklace from PP!).
Today we are venturing out for an appointment, and I went so far as to pair some creamy freshwater studs (no idea where I got them years ago but the luster is really amazing on them) with a freshwater keshi tin cup worn as a lariat. Even though I’m wearing a sweater and yoga pants, I feel much more put together. We’ll see how long it lasts, because coupled with my hair down, it’s a major grabby baby hands risks
Thank for indulging me and thanks for all the wonderful posts on this thread!
