365 Days of Pearls

Thanks, MSC. I got the little pearls for the studs thanks to BAS who picked them for me at the 2015 ruckus. I was all set to go when my son who had broken his arm in May, re-fractured it the day before my flight to LA was scheduled to leave. So, those earrings are special and I'm lucky to have them!

LOL!!! Thanks, BAS  After reading BWeaves observation that her blues photograph darker than they are irl, I think these do as well.

Thanks for the kind words, Katbran, Pareltje, kalmen, and JerseyPearl!

Naan-- thank you for the birthday wishes and I'm hoping for many pearls, too lol!

PearlyWhites, I remember when very blue akoya were difficult to find. Seems to me they are more common now; get yourself put on a list for them.

Moneymeister, I don't know if they're Vietnamese or not. I'll look for the receipt today and let you know. I bought these in April of 2015 during PP baroque akoya special.

Sue Bee, thank you and welcome to Pearl Guide!

Wow, those are gorgeous blues!

My first strand of 10 mm blue akoyas from PP were also very pale. They actually photograph better than they look in person, which is unusual. I did not know they could be a deeper blue, so I kept them, but I rarely wear them.

My next blue akoyas from PP were the Vietnamese ones that have amazing deep blue color and rose overtones. I now have several strands of the deeper blue color from PP and I love them.

But BN's are amazing, as usual. I'm seriously jealous. They're gorgeous.

Lol, thank you! Truth is, I've always admired your collection of blues. In fact, every time I see your rope of little bba, I think to myself "Why oh why did I not get a rope of those when I had a chance??" I have an 18 strand of them and it's so beautiful but Hisano still had others at the time and a rope would have been... better!

Those are just gorgeous large blue baroque akoyas, baby nurse! I went for the white ones, and love the, but those blues ... sigh ... just so lovely. And I swoon over ripples with bright colors, and GREEN ... for me, they have to have green ... probably why I don't own ripples yet lol.

Welcome Sue Bee! I chuckled so over your PG nickname ... my own sister's name is Sue, and her son is a beekeeper, and she collects bee stuff :)

Thank you, Cathy:eek: I'll bring them along to the next ruckus.

Those white baroque akoya will go down in history as some gorgeous pearls. Those who got them were very lucky. I recall the phenomenal earrings you had made with the leaf settings. Did you get a tin cup as well?

BabyNurse you know that is one of my all time favorite strand!
I always tell PP I want one "just like BN's strand", god knows when they will be able to find another one like it!!!

Keep reminding them, Purranha! I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they find one.

Happy Belated Birthday BN! Why do your blues glow so pretty? Ugh!!! They are one of my favorites! And then you lay them out in a heart... way to rub it in... ;)

Day 33:

Pearl Paradise multicolored Tahitian bracelet.

Before i began collecting pearls, I was very interested in colored stones and spent a lot of time on another jewelry forum. One day I was looking through its pre-loved jewelry section when I came across a listing for a pearl bracelet. It was an eye-catching multicolored Tathitian bracelet, purchased from PP and being sold for about $200.00 usd. I knew nothing about pearls but was intrigued by it. I thought about it for a bit and decided to take the plunge but by then it had sold!

Certain I'd never find another like it, I forwarded the picture to PP and asked if they could make another. This is the piece that led me down the rabbit hole!

The bracelet is 7.5" long and pearls are 9.3-10.9mm. First picture is Pearl Paradise's glamour shot.

Oh wow, pattye; what a lucky daughter in law!!

Yes, PP did a fabulous job with the bracelet. It is a huge treat to look down and see the pearls there on my wrist. I don't wear this bracelet as often as I should though because it's too loose. No excuses now that I've learned how to knot pearls-- I need to restring it!

I love your blues!

The multi-color Tahitian bracelet is wonderful.

Lovely colors in the Tahitians especially against the grey sweater, BN.

You have such a fun thread. Love the pearl art! those Tahitians are lush. Know what I do when I come to your thread and you don't have a new pictures? I start clicking backwards for more happiness!

I SPY ... a blue bunny masquerading as an earring, in a study in blues! Credit for me having white baroque akoyas goes to Newberry, who said "RUN, don't walk ..." and I wondered if I really needed more white pearls lol. They were sold at the same time as the blues, so I only got one color, and I do love them. Thanks for the compliment on the earrings! I have 2 sets; both the leaf setting with diamond accent. One set is yellow gold on leverbacks. The other set is charms, in rose gold, so I can wear on my slim, small "inside out" rose gold diamond hoop earrings. I do not have a tin cup; just 2 nested strands with orbits to make a rope. However, I have a small handful of pearls left ... ? That Tahitian bracelet is a "Holy Grail" worthy piece!!! I wonder why I don't have a Tahitian bracelet lol ???
