Oh fabulous! I do like both looks but I agree with Katbran, the pink with the tin cup is amazing. Are the pearls in it ripples? Really beautiful shapes and colors in it! Is this a project you put together yourself?

Haha- I think katbran was talking about YOUR figgy ripples!
The tin cup is made up of a bunch of random freshwater pearls I had on hand. I was practicing wire wrapping this summer and want to do more, but I need to get more pearls!

Jeg-- wow, lol! I wondered why those pearls in your tin cup didn't look either fig-like or ripple-like! Anyway, I think I mentioned before how impressed I am with your wire wrapping. I'm interested in learning how to do this as well but need to buckle down on my knotting skills first.

Katbran, thank you for noticing the figs! These pearls and the rosebuds are the least admired of my collection I think.

Day 195:

While I didn't actually wear this today, I spent a lot of time playing with the different layers as well as photographing them. I combined two 18" strands to wear as a rope and then combined a 36" rope with an 18" strand to make a second rope.

The first "rope" consists of two lavender strands from Catherine Cardellini. The second "rope" is made up of my 36" pistachio akoya rope from Hisano of little h Jewelry, and an 18" graduated lavender strand from Pearl Paradise.









First I tried on the 2 Catherine Cardellini strands as a rope. I liked the contrast between the diamonds and little rounds of one strand and the continuous rounds in the other strand. I think I'd wear it like this if I switched out the clasps for something less noticeable. As is there's just too much clasp.










Then I connected the 36" pistachio akoya rope to the 18" lavender graduated strand and wore this doubled, along with the CC "rope".



Finally, I separated the two CC strands. I put the lavender round one back on and wrapped the other with the diamonds around my wrist as a bracelet. I kept the 36" akoya rope attached to the 18" graduated lavender strand. This I thought was pretty.

What inventive ropes Baby Nurse! Both lovely, but my favorite is the "lavendar" pearls with the pistachio babies ... how could those look so wonderful together??? Makes me think once again, that I do not understand the description "lavendar" when it applies to pearls at all. I would never have thought of putting a graduated strand into that mix either (which is why YOU are doing this thread and not me lol ...) but the graduation becomes a hypnotic WAVE ... fabulous!

I like ve those pistachio pearls !! And think that combo of the green and Lavender is fabulous!

Cathy - Lavender pearls are really really difficult. The colour varies so much - it takes a lot to get a fairly consistent colour throughout a strand . I was looking at a fairly expensive Lavender Edison strand and the colours varied from a pinky Lavender , the more common somewhat muddy / beige Lavender , a blue Lavender... I commented that it wasn't matched that well and the sales person looked at it and said .." this colour , so hard to match , very very difficult " . So you can see that Lavender wears many faces.

OMG BabyNurse you SLAYED it with this set! What Cathy said! That grey graduated strand and pistachio babies go so incredibly well together and I love how the soft color flows into each other!!!!!

I love all of it!!! I never would have linked the little pistachios with the graduated lavenders, and that's my favorite combination. But I love every look. So creative. Now I need more pearls, dammit.

I've been doing a lot of traveling back and forth to the vet. My favorite hen, Hilda, has an infection in her foot and had surgery yesterday.

Here she is napping in the sun on the way there.



Back home last night, post procedure. Note my kids in the background anxiously looking on.



A close up of the affected foot. The vet fashioned a "boot" with a sponge cut to fit the sole of her foot and then applied a dressing and surgical tape around it. Keeping my fingers crossed that this stays on-- Hilda is very nimble with her beak!

Thank you, Cathy! Yes, aren't Vietnamese akoya so lovely?! The luster, overtones, color.. delicious!

Hilda was in very good spirits today, thank you! We go back to the vet Sunday to see how things are healing and then in another two weeks for suture removal.

Lol!!! No unfortunately, hens do not tolerate collars. Would make things simpler if they did!

Then maybe keep her tummy full. Do hens sleep more if they're full? She can't pick at the bandage if she's asleep.
