Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Beautiful as a set, BWeaves!

Welcome, PearlyLibrarian! Studs are always a great choice. Versatile and work for any occasion, and especially with your busy baby life. I love tin cups, too! So glad you found this forum!

All things I put together- earring jackets and tin cup necklaces with tiny Tahitian pearls from Alex Collins, and a necklace I made with Tahitian/T keshi.

Welcome PearlyLibrarian. I love your collection.

It's not easy being green, Pistachio edition. I just bought a new phone today. Pistachio green.

Mixed tin-cup, ombre' Tahitian tin-cup, and pistachio Tahitian studs from Kojima. Pistachio baroque akoyas from PP. It was the only strand that PP had at that Ruckus. The wall behind me is also green.

Thanks for the warm welcome @jeg and everyone!

@BWeaves I love those Tahitians - that’s definitely where my interest is for building out my collection!

@Pomelo I am definitely on the hunt for a bracelet to borrow your fantastic idea. I have a bracelet coming soon that I think would be amazing in that configuration.

I originally got these 5.5mm silver blue akoya studs to stack with my 7mms, but I actually liked mixing them with the creamy freshwater pair today. Since I’m a bit limited on dangles now, I think I’ll get creative with mixing stacks of studs. Luckily I have a few piercings to allow for options!

Your green must’ve rubbed off on me, BWeaves, but I only got as far as clothes…

Pomelo, the chain and bracelet combo work great together!

PearlyLibrarian, yes, please mix and play! Who doesn’t love to have options?!

A better pic from a sunny day. It’s been so dark this week-

A friend had a short-notice birthday dinner, so I got to escape for a quick 2-hour sans babies outing.

Which means …. Dangles! And a strand! Paired with jeans and a navy blue shirt, this was my first time wearing these metallic French hook drops and this metallic drop strand from PP. They felt so nice to wear and match so wonderfully even though they weren’t sold as a set. They are actually luminous. I took two pictures in different lighting, and the pearls look like they’ve got their own spotlight. Something about the drop shape of the pearls makes the strand feel more modern and casual to me.

Mom's dragon torsade. I did take a photo wearing them, but I managed to have the clasp upside down, doh! Freshwater rice krispie pearls. 12 strands. They're very iridescent, and slightly peachy pink.

They probably need a good wash, but I don't relish restringing this necklace. The clasp is actually attached to the beads that go into the back of the dragon's head and has safety latches on the underside. The necklace is just long enough to slip over my head, so I try not to futz with the clasp.

Today I tried out a trio of akoya studs I’ve been collecting in graduated sizes. 7mm, 6mm, and 5mm. I am attending a wedding next month, so I plan to wear these then. However, 7mm is usually larger than I wear (I just favor smaller earrings). I think they will work well for the wedding, but I’m also wondering if I should hunt down some 4mm babies and shift the stack smaller. Or I could look for a 5.5mm to have a half mm difference between the studs instead of 1mm. I’m not sure if that would be too subtle of a difference between sizes though. Would love to hear opinions!

I love your 5/6/7 mm studs! I like the spacing between them. The balance is very pleasing.

Beware of PSS!!!! Pearl Shrinkage Syndrome is real. The older you get, and the more pearls you collect, the bigger you want them.

I used to not like large pearls. I thought they were a bit too Wilma Flintstone looking. Now, I can't get them big enough. I never thought it would happen to me.

@BWeaves you may be right about that! I used to look at South Seas and think “I could never pull that off.” And now I think “maybe ….”

I really like the stack the way it is, PearlyLibrarian. As BWeaves mentioned, the spacing works well. I also think a smaller stack would look great, too, if you would be more comfortable with smaller.

Love the little h pieces, BWeaves! They are a stand out with any outfit.

I love the color combinations in the earrings!

Wow your blue Takahashi akoyas are an impressive size @jeg !

@PearlyLibrarian your ear stack looks great! I personally wouldn’t go smaller and completely agree that PSS is a thing. Maybe because I don’t wear pearl studs on a daily basis (I’m too lazy to take off earrings when I exercise or shower), I’ve taken a liking to bigger pearls for my ears. I do prefer my pearls necklaces to be smaller though.

One thing I’d recommend is to buy some fakes in various sizes and wear them for a few days to see if you like the size!

Here are some links to my journey for bigger studs, culminating in a pair of 16.5mm+ mismatched Tahitian x WSS.

- Exploring pearl studs at 11mm+ thread
- My mismatched monster 16.5mm+ studs thread
- I also have a 17mm+ pink FW pearl single stud that I wanted to find a blue SS partner for, but I ran out of patience. Maybe I reset the pink FW as a cuff ring with a 13mm grey T from CMW…

Pomelo, love your big stud journey (oops, that came out wrong). JEG, love your blues!!!!

I'm also going blue today, but with Lapis and white Rice Krispie pearls. Whenever I wear my Mom's Rice Krispies, I totally get Hisano's love of small pearls. Worn with a large feather pendant from Kojima and reborn pearl earrings from a jeweler in Mt. Dora, FL who is no longer in business. I haven't worn this combination together before.
