Today is my birthday. If you have a minute, and can post a photo or link of anything involving pearls that you think is beautiful or interesting, I would consider it a terrific birthday present.

Cheers,
Blaire

Happy birthday Blaire !!! And many, many beautiful pearls.

Wow, all those photos put a big smile on my face!:) Thanks so much.

Now I have to go get ready to go out. First stop, a friend's 30th anniversary party, 2nd stop, a birthday steak and a big glass of wine.;)

Thanks again,
Blaire

First thing today, I purchased myself a birthday present -- some of Douglas's pearls from Care Ehret. I can't wait until they get here. I don't think Care will mind if I post her photo.;)

Beautiful color, beautiful design, enjoy them !!! And many happy returns !!! :)

Hello Blaire,

Here is a pic of another one of my favourite pearl tiaras. It has been lost. No one knows where to look. For your birthday, I wish that you might find it one day sitting on a table at a rumage sale.

Happy Birthday, Blaire! So sorry I missed it and don't have any photos for you. I'll wish you sweet pearly dreams upon your pillow tonight.

Slraep: Wasn't she a beauty! I like her uncomplicated style. We should do a tiara/crown study. I never realized how pearls are used more than mined gemstones. Maybe that is why pearls in the boardroom represent power.

Happy birthday

Here are my favorite pearl tiara & 3-strands South Sea necklace.

Queen Marie of Romania:

It's gorgeous! That's a birthday wish to dream on.

For one of my birthdays, a friend gave me a rhinestone tiara with artificial pearls. I asked her why she gave it to me and she said when she saw it on display, it looked like me. What does that say, I wonder?;)

Thanks,
Blaire

Thanks Tanakarn!

I like that the pearls in the tiara dangle. Natural and very beautiful.:)

Those triple strands look great graduated. I think that might help make a short neck look longer. Thanks for sharing them, too.

Cheers,
Blaire

Knotty Panda, great idea about a pearl tiara thread. It's amazing how regal you feel when you put on a tiara. Even the Christmas party I attended wearing a homemade tiara of red and green M&Ms made me feel like the belle of the ball. The green satin elbow-length gloves and maraschino cherry red wig also might have had something to do with it! It was a law firm party and it's a long story.

Blaire,

Happy Birthday! What a great choice for birthday present. Gorgeous!

Not sure I have a favorite picture. Douglas and Josh have been showing beautiful pearls lately so I will try something different. Love pictures of pearls on Jacqueline Kennedy http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/pearl/freshwater.html. I also like filigree metal work combine with pearls, such as this Edwardian piece http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-1750.html,
or this modern version http://www.novica.com/itemdetail/index.cfm?pID=119731.

Thanks Pernula, I enjoyed the article and I love the delicate pin. The filigree work on those earrings is almost microscopic -- they're little works of art for the ears!;)

My birthday is drawing to a close, but I had a terrific day, including a surprise chocolate raspberry cake...

and mucho margaritas!

Everyone agreed to postpone my birthday celebration because of the big wedding anniversary party today, so I get to go to another party -- darn! And I'm still owed that steak and wine. :)

So if you want to post more cool things for everyone to look at, I'm sure we would all love it. ;)

Thanks to Perle!
And to nlearner!
And to Slraep!
And to Knotty Panda!
And to Tanakarn!
And to Pernula!

Cheers,
Blaire

Ah! Freakin' time zone thing...

Happy birthday! No reason why the wish wouldn't work a day after, right?

As for my favorite pearly web places on the web... there aren't that many left that were not mentioned already. Tough to find better then this forum! Try THIS

Isn't most of the use of these objects just.. being nice to look at? :p Then pictures must be counting for something too:

It is that "inner princess" all girls have. Okay, and maybe some guys.
Your "inner princess" seems to be shining very brightly!!

Yes, she was a beauty and also an interesting Queen.

I'm going out for a while today but I'll start that tiara thread as soon as I'm back. Lots of royal tiaras have been hidden, lost or remodeled, so it's a fascinating subject and anyone interested should download all pictures of these lovely historical things floating around on the internet because even good pics are rare.

Exactly! Pictures count for everything!

Thanks for the jewel website. I got through Doris Duke and part of Maria Callas and a little of the Queen Mum. I can see I'm going to have to go back again and again. Ah yes, hours of viewing pleasure -- exactly what I wanted! Unfortunately, I have studying and other things to do.

The lavender pearl photo! That could be a screen saver! Thank goodness I don't have to own something to appreciate its beauty. Now I can see it whenever I want.:)

What a great day!
Blaire
