Who is going to the Hong Kong Trade in March 2017?

I was on a green south sea mission yesterday...
And I would post photos if i could work out how to from my phone. They will be in my very late blog post just as soon as i have written it!
 
Icy..I gave up on Grace years ago. They are deluded on price. Things are worth what someone will pay not what they want. Especially the ear-wax yellows.
Plenty more bead nukeds around

I had Duck for dinner tonight, wishing it was in Hong Kong :) Admittedly, it was crispy roast duck in an Irish restaurant, served with cranberry mango chutney ... but it was as close as I could get lol.

More on the blog later tonight. Surprisingly I'm still up for shopping but pearl fund is fast depleting. Have decided to shop for clothes (since I can swipe my credit card) if I'm really broke cos I can't imagine window shopping for jewellery and not buying.

Oh and re: prices, the fwp prices shocked me. So many strands were at USD 10k? I kept giving the sales person at Grace Pearl my stunned face cos everytime something finally catches my eye it's once of those SUPER expensive strand or singles.

Icy - I know exactly what you mean about those Grace prices lol Super high ! And I was hard pressed to tell the difference between the 50000 strand and the 5000 one. #realnews #Icyjadesgoneshopping

I'm so jealous of everyone in Hong Kong right now! I'm originally from there, but haven't been back for almost 10 years. I would love to be able to go to one of these gem shows, but seeing that I'm not in the trade I wouldn't be able to get in.

I will have to live vicariously through all of you in this thread and on your blogs and sites. I can't wait to see some of the new jewelry that will pop up after!

Wendy, I'm looking at the photos on your blog post and those are some gorgeous pearls! What type of pearls are those in the photo with all the pairs? That single greenish blue pearl and the blue pair are STUNNING

The ear wax yellows are awful but based on what I see I have to say that Grace is one of the handful of vendors at the show that have really really beautiful bead nuked fwp strands. Those with superb metallic luster, clean skins and round shapes. The sub-par ones are every where but the really nice ones are rare and were grabbed up. I tried looking for another strand today at the fair and there were none left.

Cleaner skins, better matching, blemish free, perfect rounds. I can see the difference side by side but I'm not sure it's worth the $$$ given that most people won't be able to tell once the pearls are on the neck.

Dinner was great FYI. There were TWO ducks for whatever reason and a mountain of food... prawns with egg yolk (I think), some yummy fried egg with crab meat (I think), roast meats, fish with egg sauce, fried rice... of course it was great to meet Jeremy, Hisano, Alexandra. Cees, etc. It was quite daunting I've to admit but I'm glad I went.

Thanks again to Jeremy and Hisano for hosting dinner.

Oh ya, and Hisano was wearing the most gorgeous little tahitians and that famous ring. I kept telling myself that it's rude to stare at her neck during dinner lol.

Haha "that famous ring" type of pearl has been on my wishlist forever!!!

We found some fabulous faceted drop amwthysts
Can anyonw guess who i am with?
 
I have a feeling that staring at Hisano's neck would not be deemed rude under the circumstances. When my parents owned a small Mom & Pop department store in a very small town, I was thrilled to see someone stare at me and ask to buy the same outfit.
