Who is going to the Hong Kong Trade in March 2017?

Oh yes a list is important. On your last day you can look at it and think..'I haven't got half of this stuff' and remember the bags and bags of pearls you bought instead.
If you make a list and just buy what is on that list you have exceptional self control.

It's hard not to enjoy all the food n HK. be sure to eat at at least one of the really cheap (10hkd) local cafes on the island which is where locals eat all the time - real hearty every day food in a tiny cafe(really just say 5 tables crammed in) and full of families. HK people take their food very seriously. anywhere with lots of people already in will have good food. There's also lots of Korean places
The HK history museum has an exhib of toys at the moment. that is in Tsim Sha Tsui and worth a visit. The Art museum is still closed. I have no idea what they are doing in there but it is taking years. A trip out to and then up the Big Buddha is great (but only for those who can do lots of stairs)
Public transport is excellent. You need an octopus card.
How long are you there?

Enjoy, everyone! Passing up on HK fair. Bought waaaaaay too much at the BKK fair. Lol.

As someone who is an armchair enthusiast, I look forward to living vicariously through your vendor blog posts and all of the pictures that will make their way back to the forum. Wishing everyone great success and a fun trip.

Icy, I joined your blog too! Can't wait to see your purchases. Have fun shopping.

Well I'm hopping on the IcyJade blog train as well !
You are going to have such a good time ..I know you have done big shows but this is huge. So hard not to get distracted. ( well it's hard for me )

Definitely make a list of the basics - earring pearls ..colours sizes . Necklace strands ...Once you have found those you can go for the exotics . Special, pearls for rings or pendants etc .

Go early , even with preregistration getting in can be a long process ....lines....double security checks ....I read a book off my kindle app lol .

Cash ...not all vendors have a line for credit cards ..so you should ask before you spend your time looking through everything.
If I find something that I want but want to,check out prices ..I take one,of their business cards ..write the price on it ..lay it on top of the item and photograph it. It's so easy to forget which strand you saw where .

Gosh I wish I had the time to go ...but I just can't face that 10hr flight for just the 3 days I could spare. Fortunately I know some vendors well and started shopping the special things last week through photos.

Good luck ! I'll look forward to reading about your adventures!

Katbran, that business card photo trick is brilliant! Even at Intergem last week, ome room, I couldn't find my way back to something I saw ...

I'm delighted to be on IcyJade's blog list ... and ... of course ... FOOD lol.

My enduring Thanks to all our vendors for the reports, photos, searching and treasure hunting on our behalf! Every time someone says "WHAT are those beautiful ... pearls???" and I hear myself saying "A friend brought them back from .... " I am amazed and grateful to be so lucky !! Safe Travels All :)

I'll miss seeing you too...and I know you will have your pockets filled with beautiful pearls..and I'm going to miss them too.... :(

I've already ordered some special things before the show - managed to get in before the offices offered them to the European buyers yesterday. So I'm happy about that...I'll just get a few more bits and pieces today and then wait till June. I was going to go to America in June so I could hit the HK show..then the USA .. maybe the Vegas show..visit the family..then maybe hit the PP vault on the way out. Boy I'd better start saving my pennies.

Well Katbran, I have bought most of my pearls already before the Fairs.

And after Hong Kong I go back to Bangkok and on the 5th of March via Singapore to Manado in Sulawesia northern Indonesia and then to the island Pulau Talisei to witness a harvest of Golden and White South Sea pearls.

But many others are going and I hope to meet up with them there.

I'm glad my trip blogs are appreciated Cathykeishi. Sometimes I write with my eyelids propped open after a longggggg day

I'm not going myself (couldn't get off work :( ), but will have an "agent" with my shopping list there)) she will be there just for a few hours though, so I'm not sure what whether it will be enough time to buy anything at all) fingers crossed :D

I wish I could join to witness the harvest... It must be a thrill for a pearl enthusiast like me.

Jeremy I arrive on Wednesday at 6.30 pm. Maybe I will be to late, unless you start a little later.

Katbran, Wendy, it is for me an honor to be invited by one of the owners. The area is quite remote and has no WiFi, but I promise I will take photos. The flight from Singapore to Manado is 3.30 hours and then on to the island.

We don't want you to miss another one, so why don't we have our mini-ruckus on Thursday!

I don't know who all is here this time, but message me if you want to join. I will set up a reservation at the same Peking Duck restaurant in TST as usual!

Oh can I join the dinner pls?

I'll be here till Monday but this is really my shopping plus destress trip so I'll take a few days to chill if I'm all shopped out or run out of cash.

Katbran I'm really sorry to miss you this time. Weather is lovely but I under estimated how chilly it can get.
