Something you don't see every day

I agree with you both, I also prefer a drop. That's an absolutely wonderful pearl, Jeremy.

The pearl is definitely prettier than the round. I completely agree on that part. But a 24 mm round is something you just don't come across.

That is some pearl! So...people are saying Edison. Was that drop bead-nucleated, then?

Amazing. I think you need a setting with black rhodium and dark gemstones. :)

thanks for the follow-up picis Jeremy - beautiful colours, beautiful pearl

and - special lady, special pearl (in that order)

can we see the finished piece in time

I'm not sure what the special lady will do with the pearl. We'll probably find out at the ruckus;) I wish there were more of these because I know it's unfair to tease, but there are some other special things Hisano and I collected, like white metallics.

white metallics! I love them so much! I have a wonderful, fantastic white metallic strand. This is the first strand of white I love so much (except my little Bahrainis.)

I am pretty well set up, so luckily for the rest of you, I won't be competing for those!!!! I would just LOVE the opportunity to hold mine up to a natural hanadama strand- jest wondrin'!!! I think I like that metallic luster on whites as much as anything I have ever seen.

GASP!!!!! Stagger! White Metallics!?! My Holy Grail!

Well, Caitlin, you'll get an opportunity soon. Drag your metallics to the Ruckus, explore the vault!

I got these from the vault, ruckus before last.

They were in a tray with some lavender/silvers from a sale, but I broke from my original and longstanding love of lavender, and wangled these instead. The copper-tinged white is the best pinking for a pearl, ever, by which I mean white with overtones, not all pinked in the processing. White with natural overtones is rare and precious. My precious........ The photo above is actually another customer's pearls, I just used it because my photography would make them look like I was telling a fish story.

Oops sorry, let's get back to that mighty drop!

Black rhodium? Never heard of it, but it sounds as mysterious as the pearl. A Black rhodium chain as well? Is there such a thing?

My dream would be a white metallic pendant with matching dangle earrings. <sigh>
