Sea of Cortez fan club

Hi PG friends !
I have always been a Sea of Cortez and Douglas' fan : browsing his blog, being the first one to watch his youtube recording ...
So much educating matters such as burning pearls, biting pearls and eating pearls like Cleopatra did ...

But when I saw his gallery of SoC keshis, I knew that time has come to get some.
So, hereafter is the whole story.
I first received photos of SoC under plastic bags, which required a lot of imagination to find beauty beyond plastic

Sure it was not reasonnable at all to buy at moment of Euro was so low, but I did !

Then came the time of shipment .
arhhh ! waiting for pearls to arrive, that's a bad moment for any pearl lover, waiting for parcel arrival, thrilled by logistic matters and so on

And suddenly the "plastic bags" were there !!

As a collector I am found of classifying, so I did : by shapes and sizes, and this is how it looks like then : button ones, pear-shaped ones, egg-shaped ones and so...

I don't know about you, but I have always wanted to know the difference between Sea of Cortez and Tahitian pearls bodycolors and overtones

So I made this photo, sorry camera not good enough (unless it is the photographer )

So Sea of Cortez oysters really deserve being called the "rainbow-lipped" oysters.
I can see : blue, green-blue, copper, reddish, purple, grey, green, pinkish
arhhhhh, can stop admiring

Well, we ARE bringing a bit of Guaymas to the Ruckus- Douglas and his incredibly good karma Pteria sterna pearls. Right now Cortez Pearls is my favorite pearl farm. I like the way they grow the pearls and the pearls they grow are the most rare in the world, arguably the most beautiful. The farms three owners are all trained scientists who see far past the pearls they specialize in. They are such a tiny operation, yet such a potent force in their environment. And they carry a lot of weight for an operation their size in the pearl world in general.

Seconded, and thirded, Caitlin!! Someday I'll have to hop in my little beater of a Honda and get down there for an official tour... Their pearls are just.so.gorgeous!

As I did not succeed in catching so intense colors of the SoC keshis, I brought them at sea (D Day beaches in Normandy) to make a new series of photos.
So here are 5 photos of the same pearls : the 3 first in Paris, 2 last at sea. The greenish pinks are so amazing !

Now, what to do with ? earrings, bracelets, necklaces?
So here is the whole series.
And below a bracelet and one earring made out of Tahiti keshis.

I was wondering about mixing keshis and rondels or small faceted or rough beadstones, here are some picts with :

• cat's eye rondels
• black rough diamonds
• grey rough diamonds
• black spinels
• orange sapphires

Which ones would you advise, or none of them ? Thanks for giving your opinion
