Pearl rings - What's hot, what's not?

Wow Valeria, I had not seen that particular pendant--interesting indeed. I bet you could make a clasp out of it by attaching jumprings to either side.

The wood is kind of "manly"--would probably compliment the trends toward men and pearls seen lately in the news.

And the ring that I saw was the one he made for his wife--and co-owner of the business. It was similar to the image you included, but done in white gold with a thicker "squiggle" and only one Tahitian pearl with a dark peacock overtone. Same idea, though.

I agree that most of their designs are innovative and attractive.

Sure are! And the pearls look colorful too ;)

Just wanted to add a ring to the thread: a small one with an unusual design and a big name attached. What d you think?

ring color or no

ring color or no

Hi crew. I have my own question about rings. I love color and just assume that others do too. But what about rings of more sober tones like grey or just-green?

Gray... looks interesting when it plays the metal color in the mounting, methinks.

What can I say; all those 'blacks' are nice but it is the more unusual that spark conversation, that's all. ;)

Valeria ? I love the ring on the left side of post 136.

Caitlin ? Your mother?s ring is gorgeous too.

Until recently, I had no interest in a pearl ring. I just expected a pearl would be too soft. As it is, I constantly bang my engagement ring on all sorts of things.

I would love to see a pearl ring set low (so only the top third or quarter of the pearl shows) in a higher setting with pave diamonds and some filigree along the sides and with tapered shank.

Not sure if I am communicating my vision all that well.

Here are examples of low set pearl rings: two mabes (in white and yellow gold) and akoya. I like the white gold 15mm version, it looks so simple but trendy. But my 11-year old son adores the yellow gold mabe one because it is just pretty and as he says "flirty". And looks like a browny :)

Nobody in the family seems to like my akoya ring but I find the setting absolutely genious, so stable and nicely carrying the pearl. It would better be in white gold though...

Olga,

I like your akoya ring, I like the contrast between the smoothness of the pearl and the design of the ring. I also prefer yellow gold which makes the ring richer. White gold makes jewelry metallic and cold.
I like the elegance of the two other rings too.

Thank you, what a relief, at least somebody likes it ! :)

One vote for the first ring! (white mabe). It looks lively on your hand

I think they're faboo! ;)

Olga,

I like your rings very much, especially the mabe. You have pretty hands so the ring suits you very well!

Just look past the wrinkly affairs to the black keshi rings in the second tier :p

A little charming ring locket (!) packing five natural pearls and quite a bit of artistry... I think. Not really expensive, but it has to fit you... it doesn't fit me by too much to size.

That is just precious! You always find the coolest stuff. What might someone hide in such a small locket? Hair? ;)

Possibly... It would have been a Victorian thing.

It looks like the little locket compartment cannot be opened very easily - you'd need some tool to take the glass lid off. So whatever goes inside should stay in between two visits at a watch repair shop (those guys would have the right gear to take the glass off in good conditions).

My new pearl rings

My new pearl rings

I've been thinking about getting a pearl ring for a while...a little nervous, as I'm rather rough with my hands...but finally succumbed and bought TWO! Very different creatures, these - both relatively low-profile, as such things go. One is silver and rose gold with a white button CFWP, the other is white gold with an abalone pearl.

I'm hoping I can manage not to destroy them too quickly!

I'm afraid the neighbors are starting to think I'm a bit strange, taking photos of my neck and hands...

Those are totally FABOO! Love the crown setting on the white pearl, and you know how I feel about abalone pearls. I hope you enjoy them for many years to come. ;)
