Wow - it is nearly midnight here, but after dinner tonight I started putting this together - didn't expect to get it finished - it is lavender keishis (8mm x 11/12mm) and silver "rectangular coins" with sterling silver chain... measures just over 44 inches - luckily I can double that over my neck without need for a clasp... I really did just start it to see if I could practise my wrapped loops...

Off to bed now!

Looks like beading to me, Nerida!

And really pretty also! Love the chain, and the way you have varied the design slightly. Bet you will get lots of compliments on this one--:)

so many pearls, so little time

I had bought some chain in Tucson with the same kind of idea in mind. It looks wonderful. I also really like the color of the pearls. Great job! ;)

Cheers,
Blaire

Beautiful design, Nerida - I love the light airiness. Of course it qualifies as beading! Particularly if you're doing it very late at night - that's a sure sign of an in(sane?)(spired?) beader!

I love the randomness. A very versatile and pretty piece. Wear it proudly!

Quite lovely! I made a pair of earrings that each have a pearl suspended from a large oval loop like you have used in the chain - bet you could do something similar to make a smashing set.

Thank you everyone. I have worn this piece all day - expecting it to fall apart, but so far, so good! I read your advice regarding jump rings in another post, Blaire - I have ordered some of those now from your supplier - thank you! Also love the idea about the earrings, Boo - I might just give that a try!
Nerida.

I keep coming back to look at your necklace. It looks so cool and refreshing. I'm sure that your necklace is giving a lot of us inspiration to make some summery jewelry for ourselves! ;)

Hi Blaire - yeah, pretty weird that I'm making something that looks like spring when I'm knee deep in autumn leaves on my footpath, and it's 10 degrees colder here than it was two weeks ago... but I am very glad that you like it! I bought the chain at a trade fair a month or so ago.The only thing I don't like about it is having to sacrifice one of those large links every time I needed to cut - feels wasteful! I have been wearing it today with a whole bunch of elastic bracelets - pink keishis, silver rectangles, mixed and white keishis - just with pink pearl earrings - it feels very nice, but as I said, I am waiting for it to fall apart - this is my first experience with jump rings!

Hi Nerida,

if you would have something even more "lavender" as your bakground these would be even more striking colours - I too like the airiness of the necklace very much. Gold-silver-lavender - beautiful!

Now all there is left, would be a nicely strung necklace:D

Inge - I know exactly what you mean!! I have strung (and knotted) the baroque SS and Tahitian mixed strands that I posted under "What will I do with these" but I'm not happy enough with it yet to post....definitely need more practise with those knots - the keishi necklace that I posted was done on single thread and I just don't like it at all - I am waiting to get some white gold ball clasps to redo those.. excuses, excuses!

I like the design, very fresh looking. The silver gives it a great to wear anytime. I love silver with pearls.

This is especially for Jerin! I am hoping that this qualifies a the "nicely strung strand"... I have used Sheri (la Corsetiere)'s method of doubling back through the strand to knot...

These are bead nucleated FW klonks - stacks of lustre, but klonk-ish nevertheless! 13.4 - 16.2mm!

Sorry, my mistake. I did buy heaps of bead nucleated, but this are all-nacre. Sorry for the confusion.

Well done Nerida! Great pearls too. What thread did you use for these big, bold, baroques?

Serenity

I can't really get a feel for the size without a neck-shot. You must get someone to help you so we can really appreciate their klonkiness!

They are on 4 strands of 10lb powerpro - on double strand, then threaded back through to knot. I love this technique - knots sit perfectly and I feel secure...

Re the neck shot - you mean someone to help me by stretching out the wrinkles??

LOL - That wasn't quite the answer I expected! Okay, if the neck is a sensitive issue, place it around another woman's neck for the photograph, being sure to snatch it back before said wearer gets any ideas...
