I bought it for £190 from Abhay Gems on Etsy. Please see photos. Is this pearl genuine? What do you make of the metal around it? Thank you.

It is what you call a mabe pearl. You should be able to read more if you search for it here. I can't tell if it is genuine. Maybe others can. What is the metal stamped with? Your jeweller can probably test it.

I agree. It looks like a Mabe pearl set in a silver setting, but could be a button shaped pearl. Hard to discern with that setting.

I just checked the Etsy seller page. If you're asking whether the pearl is a natural as described, it's not. It's a Chinese freshwater pearl. All the "natural" pearl pieces are farmed Chinese freshwater pearls.

It's unfortunate because the seller is referencing astrological purposes and even offering one "natural certified South Sea" (it's not) in a setting that touches the skin.

These should be natural pearls or at the very least, untreated tissue-grafted pearls.

Maybe all the seller's natural rubies, emeralds and such a different. From the looks of it I doubt it. But from the pearl perspective, I would advise to steer clear of this seller.
