Thanks everyone, that's why I love this community. I am a great believer in generative learning and a platform like PG facilitates the sharing of a good buy or a great 'make' - stimulates more ideas!

Kat, g'day to you. I miss Oz so much and I won't be back this year so I'm thinking of a eucalyptus-inspired pearl creation, reminiscing the smell of the gum trees after the rain...

I love the imported eucalyptus trees. In California, they are enormous, but they still do well in the desert here. With some water- not as much as many trees need. I love to bring the branches inside. Especially from the ones with round leaves.

Adeline, there really are a few of us here... I would LOVE you to post a pic of your gorgeous earrings 'on the ear'!
Caitlin - I love the thought of you surrounded by eucalyptus branches... very Oz but very you all at the same time!

A quick pic for some Aussie reminiscing for you all.... this is at my home, last weekend, about 18 inches from my back door! One of my sons has been thinking it is a good idea to feed them (!) occasionally - now about 10 or 15 'drop in' to see if he is around!

Pattye, I was having a bout of insomnia last night and I was looking I starting going through this thread for the first time. I am really impressed with your work. You are really very talented. I really like your choice in colors and your designs have a very polished look to them, with clearly defined themes. Some are fun and earthy and others are more formal and classically elegant--though all are unique. This thread is particularly great because you can see how you have grown over the past couple of years. I have been looking at some other members work as well, but I am really blown away by the pool of talent have come together here. I definitely feel inspired. :)

Thank you so much, EST! I'm blushing! Very very kind of you to comment. Yes, much helpful encouragement and inspiration and mentoring from other members here~I'm eternally grateful. It helps me overcome the ~F E A R~

I see the growth, too, when I look back here! Many of us who do ongoing design have started our own threads; it's fun to see the progression, the choice of projects, pearls and gems. This year one goal is to take the online GIA Pearls class (have already taking the grading lab) for my "Graduate Pearls" designation. Plus I'm knotting professionally, something I never even imagined doing when I started lurking here in '04 and '05.

Let your inspiration carry you away!

wow, pattye! just got through this thread - and i LOVE what you're doing! that oregon sunstone just blows me away - it is a natural fit for pearls, isn't it? that fire opal necklace is drop-dead, i hope you either sold it for $$$$$ or kept it! just amazing work. i am completely inspired, and it's a good thing intergem just ENDED, i already spent too much.... :)

Here's a fun custom bridal set I just finished. A few comments about matching drop pearls~what a PAIN! I should have kept track of my time, sitting with a gauge and a table full of the pearly wonders, lol! As is said about snowflakes, no two are exactly alike, I can verify every single pearl is slightly different, too! Also my first double strand knotted bracelet.

Far from a Bridezilla, C wanted everything simple, and provided photos of pendant and earrings she liked, but wanted drop pearls. All sterling silver, cz, freshwater pearls, diamond cut rolo chain from Artbeads.

Looks very stylish. Lovely luster and I like how the necklace is finished with the two pearls.

What a nice thread to read/look through -- I'd assumed you'd been knotting for many years until I read from the beginning of this thread. I LOVE pearl drops and agree the two pearls on either side of the clasp is a lovely touch.

I know what you mean about matching drops!!! Eeek! That set is seriously beautiful and it does look very bridal. Rolo link chain is one of my all-time favorites, and it works very well in your set. Thanks for sharing! :)

I love it when you share a piece, Pattye! This one looks perfect for a bridal and those drops are exquisite. This is a set for a lifetime.
