365 Days of Pearls

I've no clue why this never dawned on me! What a fabulous idea! Is this type of design possible with fireballs though? They've got a big bead rattling around inside. Did I mistakenly refer to them as soufflés?

Thank you for the wonderful suggestions!

Hisano works wonders with her pearls. When she uses Tahitians and south sea there is a bead so I don't think fireballs would present a problem. Bring them with you to the ruckus and ask her what she thinks.

Oh!! I'd completely forgotten about the Tahitian and SS she works with! Yes, I'll definitely bring them...

I need to start trying to layer. Everyone on this site always posts such lovely photos of beautiful combinations of necklaces. So far, the most I've thought to 'layer' is doubling a rope. ha. Granted, I have a pretty small pearl stash, but I do have other items of jewelry, I'm new to pearls but not necklaces in general. I love these last 2 together. I think the akoya keshi alone would be too stark with the dark top and the tourmaline and keshi necklace would be too dark, but both of them together just compliment each other beautifully.

Thank you, BritM! I recommend trying layering. I've *just* begun doing it and I'm not sure I always get the combination right but it's a lot of fun.

BritM: Yes, the ladies (and gents) here have convinced me I need to layer more, too. I tend to just layer strands so it looks like a 100 inch strand I looped around and around. I'm getting better at trying out different combinations of contrasting necklaces.

Yikes lots of goodies but the fireballs are a new one to me!

I need new pearls most of mine are at least 50 years old.

I have been away a few days and am just catching up with this fabulous thread, and I am loving all the eye candy! So much inspiration! Thank you Baby Nurse for all your hard work every day posting your gorgeous pearls! I am definitely going to try more layering, and my wish list just got WAY longer.....:D

I layered last night just for the fun of it long enough to take pictures then removed them. Good thing is they hide the neck & port scar. Hard thing is trying to keep the graduated larger pearl center.

I love a triple! But I've bought and returned graduated strands because I cannot keep them centered, either.

Also, what scar? All I see is beautiful pearls!;)

Thanks!

They do seem to nest well together & spacing between lengths is pretty symetrical except middle strand is the larger Mikimoto.

They look wonderful together Camelot! You can use one of those pearl clips on the back to hold the placement of the strands. I've only seen them for doubles and I'm not sure if they make triples, but maybe a large one with one hole would work to keep all three strands in place.

BN, hope you're feeling up to par by now! That GSSP pendant is a stunner! It looks like the golden sun! It certainly makes my day brighter!

Brit, I agree on the layering... I'm trying to learn how to do it as well. I need to get out of my comfort zone and be a little more daring!

Newberry, great idea on the fireballs!

Newberry - What a great idea for the pendants! Certainly worth discussing possible designs ! You are so clever..thinkin outside the box !

Not really but thank you. Being a square peg trying to fit in a round hole makes me think outside of the box to make things work :)

Day 140:

Golden South Sea drop from Golay. The diamond bale setting is from Hisano of little h Jewelry.

Baby nurse: may I ask you how big the pearl in your pendant is? I've just started a thread, because I'm on the hunt for a big WSS drop, and it would be nice to know the size of your pearl, to have a comparison. Thank you!
It looks so substantial on you, this is the look I'm going for, but in WSSP!

Hi Katalin! It's about 14 x 16mm.

Good luck with your search. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find!

Day 142:

Tahitian necklace and Tahitian dangles.
