2thdktr, I thought black spinel also but found the receipt and it looks like it says faceted black agate.

BWeaves, coral is heavier than pearls. I’ve started out pretty modestly though and these small pieces are quite light.

Day 362:

Tahitian and freshwater Keshi rope from Kojima Pearl, Tahitian dangles from Pearl Paradise, Tahitian rope from Pearl Paradise.

I tried this rope 3 different ways: long on its own, long with a long Keshi rope, and finally with the Tahitian rope doubled and the Keshi rope worn long. My favorite was the Tahitian rope on its own worn long, but it’s over 50” and I was afraid it would catch in something and get yanked so I ended up with the third look: Tahitian rope doubled along with the Tahitian Keshi rope long.

I like it long, too. It gives you a chance to see it while you wear it, but I get it that it can get caught on things. I like it with the keshi rope, too.

What a beautiful look, BN. I like the Tahitians long, too but, like you, would be worried about catching it on something. It looks wonderful doubled with your keshi strand & perfect with your sweater!

A suggestion.... you could use a pearl shortner in the back so you could have just a single strand and the excess would hang down the back. It could be covered by a jacket or sweater. Great strand !

Or another thought would be to use mystery clasps strategically placed around the necklace. That way it could be broken into multiple strands without too much difficulty. Given it's length, you could create several including a bracelet or two!

I have such a sweet spot for lighter tahitians...BN yours are just lovely!

BAS, I hate to admit it but most days I’m too lazy to arrange 50” into a torsade. Two 18” strands, yes, but this rope goes on for miles!

Newberry, a pearl shortener is a great idea. I really need to invest in one.

JerseyPearl, mystery clasps are the simplest solution. I love this plan when it comes to other people’s pearls but for my own it feels... invasive? I can’t seem to come to terms with it. In my heart of hearts it feels like a big chunk of pearl is being removed in order to install one of those clasps.
