Just heard about the 8.9 earthquake in Japan. Concerned. Hope the team is all right.

I have the same concern as Nora. I just saw videos of the Tsunami. It looks terrible.

maybe their flight is delayed to Japan. Not sure about the Philippines but the Tsunami travels the speed of an airliner, around 800 km per hour.

Just saw this on Yahoo, below. Japan has too much to handle right now.

By MALCOLM FOSTER, Associated Press ? 15 mins ago
TOKYO ? TOKYO (AP) ? A powerful tsunami spawned by the largest earthquake in Japan's recorded history slammed the eastern coast Friday, sweeping away boats, cars, homes and people as widespread fires burned out of control. Tsunami warnings blanketed the entire Pacific, as far away as South America, Canada, Alaska and the entire U.S. West Coast.
Authorities said at least 32 people were killed. The magnitude 8.9 offshore quake was followed by at least 19 aftershocks, most of them of more than magnitude 6.0. Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coastline were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter.

Tokyo's main airport was closed. A large section of the ceiling at the 1-year-old airport at Ibaraki, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo, fell to the floor with a powerful crash.

A tsunami warning was extended to a number of Pacific, Southeast Asian and Latin American nations, including Japan, Russia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Chile. In the Philippines, authorities said they expect a 3-foot (1-meter) high tsunami.

The first thing I thought of was our guys going to Japan. I'm so relieved to hear that they are okay, but what a terrible disaster. Thanks.

WOOOW While we were flying to Japan from the Philippines A massive earthquake hit Japan and a typhoon hit the Philippines! It is amazing how much can change in mere moments. I just want to let everyone know that Jeremy my team and I are safe and the quake hit north of our location. I have heard word that our dear friends in the Philippines are just fine...But wow that was scary.

Wow Josh, good pictures!! Nice to get updates and know you guys are well and were not affected by all that happened. Good luck for the rest of the trip!

Did you see any of this tsunami and whirpool from the air? Glad your timing was fortuitous! What a nervewracker.

Sometimes it feels like we're reeling from one global disaster to another. I guess it's always been this way, but without sophisticated media we didn't know it...we must help, then remember to enjoy our lives. I'm glad you are all safe.

Thanks lisa, yes it was unnerving to say the least when we walked off the airplane and heard the news. It was a horrible day for Japan and I will say a prays for the victims of this epic disaster.

These are baby goats in the picture and they were absolutely adorable! The team couldn't get me away from them.

The disasters hitting Japan might not be over with new earthquake warnings and a possible meltdown of one nuclear powerplant and maybe another one also. The dangers of radiation for the Japanese population are scary. The wind direction is now east but for how long?
I would, if I were in Japan, leave the country so they can concentrate on the actions they have to take. There is not much I could help them with. It is sad but true. And let's pray and hope the disaster can be controlled and minimized. Good luck to our Japanese friends and I hope the authorities take the maximum positive actions to inform the risks to all there.

Oh dear! Yesterday, I was hopeful when there had been news reports of the nuclear power plant troubles being contained. Now a different tune on the news. Surely hope that this can truly be be contained. Last thing Japan needs is an incident like 3 mile Island or worse Chernobyl on top of the earthquakes and tsunamis.

Jbazar, The baby Goats are adorable!! Take care boys!

Cheers

Ash
