The designer's corner

Hi Pattye, the online world keeps shifting! Jewelrism has apparently shut down their direct link to their brick-and-mortar shopfront in San Francisco and all online sales at this point is through Etsy. You can access it here:

Yes, sadly Studio Sen went out of business more than a year back, if memory serves me right. It seems she was embroiled in some spat over the copyrighted designs of the findings. When she heard I was moving back to Singapore, she was pretty excited as apparently her manufacturer is based here and she pops down at least once a year to work on the designs. Ironically, I have never been able to find such findings here nor do I know the whereabouts of any of these manufacturers. And I should; Singapore is pretty small!

I took some pictures today in natural light with my camera. None of the center pearls are round. One of the FW has a flat side. Nevertheless they are beautiful. Thank you Jeremy.

Pattye, John Tu's keshi are beautiful. I wish he would exhibit here. I love S of C pearls for their unique colors and picked those that don't look too much like Tahitian pearls.

Even lovelier in natural daylight. John Tu - now that's a name being bandied about often on PG. Have googled him but he doesn't seem to have an online presence. A shame for non-US residents like me. Would love to see more of his material in any of your designs!

Pattye has sourced some of her supply from John Tu. Blaire and Marianne have bought from him in the past. He only goes to west coast (USA) jewelry shows. I think he sells in the wholesale area only. Some of us here on P-G has bought John's pearls from Pattye.

Cathy is correct. John only sells at West Coast GemFaire shows. (I have been a very satisfied customer for over 16 years). He does plan on showing at Tucson in 2012. I'll contact him and pass on the details. :)

Amethyst & Pearl Necklace Redo

Ladies, thank you for your guidance & you were right! It did definitely need more strands and length. It ended up a 5 stranded Piece after all still to short in length for the sweater I had envisioned it to go with. However, I have a camel colored sweater, going to wear tonight instead of the Big bulky sweater. Happy New Years Everybody.

Thank you!!!!!

Cheers
Ash

I bought some ranunculus to cheer me up over the holiday period and they were so lovely they inspired these: simply done short fireballs and madagascan gem rose quartz on vermeil coils. I want me some spring here at the equator.

Love the coils! Adds a "twist" to the earrings, so to speak.

Did you make the coils or is it french wire? (beautiful flower btw)

thanks, ladies. coiled them by hand on boxing day... wanted to do something for me and myself (sniff) and it's a little uneven as it was 6am the day after the festivites but i thought i'd just try to live with the imperfection. not sure abt french wire but the CZ findings are french hooks though.

not being nosy, kat, not at all :) everyone on PG shares freely...

all painstakingly coiled by hand; took about an hour, using the thinnest wire gauge i have in my stash (26?? 28??). contemplated buying one of those gadgety thingys but fingers still work fine (though tricky and somewhat uneven at times) for now... if and when i do, will show those manmade coils off, you can bet.

Hi to all the creative people who's masterpieces I admired in this thread. And I did ADMIRE them. Threads like that are always an inspiration to me. I wish more people would share their creations....

Above is my yesterday's work. Tanzanite, 22k gold and two 13mm FW pearls.
Those beads were my gift to me for Christmas.... Nobody treats me as well as I do !! LoL....

Hi Pattye..

I don't have my good camera with me...

Pearls are very good, almost flawless and luster is A1. They are "chinese" 13mm... = 12.1.. LoL. I got 2 strands some time ago, made a necklace from the best pearls from those two strands. The two I used here were rejected by me for necklace project !! I guess, I had too many good pearls in those strands..

Beads are from: eBay.ca Store: The Gem Bee. Vivien has the best beads on eBay..
