Is it me who is having selective vision, or do natural pearls go way over estimate prices those days (compared to other gems stones or jewels that meet estimates). Are the wealthy of this world now paying fortunes for truly unique, rare and irreplaceable beauties (ie natural pearls) ??

I wonder if I would be growing my daughter's college fund if I was to invest more seriously in pearls )

But auctions are something special, and prices rose very fast, there were a very specific atmosphere, yes the pieces were unique, anyway, maybe the most expensive place to buy.

Sunday's special, I went mad when I saw this beauty, and fortunatly I was there when it was sold, not so high compared to others

1900 carved chalcedony portrait, suspending three "soufflure de perle" clusters, delicate as grapes and such a luster ! not to mention the delicate surround setting and diamonds spread in an elegant way.

Simply stunning! I love the two different colored pearls and the diamonds are perfection. I would seriously wear those with everything if they were mine...even blue jeans lol!

Bulgari is my absolute favorite jeweler. I love their design and also use of colored gems. Those earrings are breathtaking !! I knew that Bulgari was mixing and matching colors for gem earrings, but never thought they did it with pearl too... must be a custom piece ... Woaw ! incredible shape match ! those are dream earrings !

My favourite is the Michele della valle ring, I always though that when the material is very beautiful, setting should be very simple to highlight it at his best.

Not the place but anyway, I share it with you : my "Treasures of the Sea" collection has been selected to be highlighted in the show place at the entry of a professional exhibition, could have been "wonders of the Earth" but happy that the board choose the Sea ... because each time pearls are highlighted it is a good point.
