Restyled & Recycled Jewelry Challenge!

Bernadette, what a lovely re-do! I'm enchanted by the way you ended the bracelet, with that oval stone studded clasp? and the dangling pearl ... so different, and so pretty.

Thank you for your kind replies :)

CathyKeshi, the clasp is sterling silver with cubic zirconia, the drop pearl has a wee story how it came to be!

I purchased a ring on etsy with this pearl, I knew it was not suitable at the time of purchasing the ring, but loved the design so much.

I now have a white south sea pearl ring and dangle to boot!

So now that I finally learned how to knot, I’ve been on a roll!

A while back I bought a delicate Italian 14k fw pearl necklace at tjmax because it was inexpensive - around the same time I bought 3 inexpensive honora T necklaces, not because they’re great pearls, but I liked the colors. I decided to merge everything together for a long rope. Ended up using only 2.5 necklaces - I’ll use the remainders for something else.

Anyway, after passing the needle through the first wavy tubular bead it became clear this poor needle may not survive 14 more beads to complete a 48” rope, but I persisted! I literally had to screw the beads and pearls onto the needle. Midway through I thought I’d better like this rope, but Pattye’s needle and I stuck it out to the end (no pun intended)! No doubt about it, Pattye’s needles are the best - thank you, Pattye!

First pic is the only one I have of the fw Italian necklace
One of the Honora T strands
The poor coiled and twisted needle
The rest worn with various ropes and keshi strands....

I was ready to go to my bank box and pull out pearls, but I got a phone call and missed my weekend window. My restyle is going to take a really long time since I can't even get to the pearls, but you are all my inspiration. :)

Number One:
I lust after, but can't afford a SSP harvest strand, so I plan on making a yellow and white tin cup rope out of round white metallics and pale gold akoyas. I will make an alternating rope and then I will have leftovers to make single color pearls in another metal color, yellow being first.

Number Two:
My pink green bronze drop metallic necklace will also become a tin cup rope. I need to order some rose gold chain and wire for this project.

I'll definitely come back when I get something finished! :)
Hugs

Pattye ! So glad the surgery went well !! I'm going to need that in the near future .. things like numbers and some letters are just starting to double up on me. And you will certainly need that sharper vision having to alter a wedding dress !!! Wow ! What a let down on the part of the person who was meant to do it !! Lucky that you can sew at that level !!

Bernadette - Wonderful redo on that necklace !! I love all the pieces !! Isn't it wonderful to save something from languishing in the bottom of a drawer...

Kay - Oh Wow... love the new redo ! I did love the triple but I can see you will get lots more wear out of the rope !! What a good job !!

lmgarden - great job ! I can well imagine that the needle didn't care much for the wavy tube beads lol
Im surprised it hung in there till the end !! The end result is fantastic !!

purranha, your earring look similar to the ones I had made not too long ago, except I had the white pearl on top and the Tahitian on the bottom :). Your wire wrapping looks superb, but I also find your proper jewelry change dazzling.

I have these 7mm bead nucleated lavenders that my mother picked out and had made me make 2 sets of earrings in August this year. Initially this was suppose to be a gift for a couple young daughters of a cousin, but ended up loving it too much and kept a pair for herself.....leaving the other one to me (she bought something else for them which they love). The design was decided by my mom (i made earrings like that from her leftover mikimotos; a strand I restrung and shortened for her. She loved it so much that whatever earrings i make her must look exactly the same way.), so I wanted to try something different. Last month I decided to add a little bit of chain and change out the leverback to a gold filled ball post. I was happy with the results.

The comparison picture doesn't really capture the lavenders as well with the new design, but I enjoyed making it :)

LM, how did I miss this? I love the squirrely gold tubes between the pearls.

Oh my, I just opened this thread and realized how far behind I have fallen. So, all I can say is, great projects everyone! Wow! Very fun to look at all the creativity and restyling.

Thank you Katbran! I'm still pretty new to the lowly beader's club, so I really appreciate you sharing your experience with me! The 3 7mm are doing okay so far, but I honestly haven't worn them too much at this time. I'll probably test drive the dangles soon enough :D.

Everyone has a different tolerance for weight. I think that a rough standard would be 6-7 grams or approx .22 - .25 ounces as the maximum for each ear. Again, it depends on the amount of time you'll be wearing them and how sensitive the piercing is.. but if you ever make them for someone else it's a good thing to keep in mind.

Katbran:  I didn't think of that! I do like to make stuff for my mom and sister in law, so I definitely will save that tidbit for such occasions!
Thank you again Katbran :).

lmgarden, I love that combo! The gold beads are so pretty spacing out the Ts.

I finally have a project in the works for this thread - adding some multicolored pinkish baroques to a double strand of angelskin coral. Stay tuned!

Here are a couple of my restyle.
First one is the AA+ oval silver peacock from PP from last years Black Friday sale. I added some lighter silver pearls and since I didn't have enough to make it double I added a silver coloured chain.
