Hi everyone,
I thought I should show you this Tahitian (should I say drop or baroque?)I bought via ebay, Pearl Society. This was a test and I didn't expect anything, but ended up quite pleased with it. It's about 13mm x 11mm, color: dominant green with copper and light grey and aubergine overtones. Surface: clean and smooth with one 'circle' in the top half. The luster is quite nice, metallic like. Forgive me I took this picture it was end of day and with my iphone. Will try to post better ones tomorrow! Hummm, now what to do with it??? Mabe a pendant?

That is a really nice pearl. Isn't the Pearl Society run by Eve Lafille, if I got her name right. If so, she is quite highly regarded as a good pearl person.

Is that so, Caitlin? The packages I get seem to originate from Hong Kong but I vaguely remember it is a Chinese (?) gentleman's name...

It's a nice one; looks huge.

Your right Adeline, that's the seller I got it from and not Eve J Afille's Pearl Society.

Hi Isabelle - lovely pearl (baroque?)

Had a dim moment whem I saw this Adeline, as I thought "It's a nice one; looks huge" referrred to the "Chinese (?) gentleman's name..." LoL

of course it relates to Isabelle's pearl !!

i bought a SSP 14K gold enhancer from the eBay Pearl Society 1 1/2 year ago. I got it for $66 at auction, the pearl is huge, and though I wasn't sure what to think about it at first I've grown very fond of it as it matches my vintage akoyas perfectly in color. I found that the description was accurate, but it was one of my first pearls so I didn't know what to expect. My initial impression was that the blemishes and partial lack of luster at the top would be a problem, but it turned out that the way it sits when I wear it shows the good part of the pearl.

I've just won two matching white circled SSP for $50 the same place - I promise to post impressions and pictures in the SSP section when I get them :) (Arrgg, all those gold findings I need to get are killing me - or rather my purse...)

Hi Pattye

don't think so.... just think the wonderful weather here has made me go a bit 'pearl-mad'

Isabelle:
What a lovely pearl! Am I correct that the bigger pearls often are less colourful?
So yours is quite special then.
Well done!
Linda.

Alex- Haha, the weather got me a bit coo coo two weeks ago we had 24-25 degrees for one wole week (we still had snow on the ground the week before). over night we went to winter parka to shorts and t-shirt! And now back to reality, 3-4 degrees, eeek!

Thanks everyone for the nice words!

Katbran- Awwww! Having to buy another pearl... Big big problem! too bad ;)

Lovely pearl. Now that I have joined the forum, I can finally see your pictures of the pearl. They didn't show up before I joined. So happy to be able to see that pretty.

I have a number of pearls from the Pearl Society, including a green drop that I wear solo as a pendant, and a pair of white South Seas that were set into earrings. All were very good buys, so I'm most pleased with them.

Hello Isabelle:
How are you going to drill that pearl?
Do you have a local person/jeweller you trust? Or do you have the equipment?
Has anyone ever used a high speed handpiece, like in a dental office? But you would
have to clamp the pearl somehow .... I can't see it working really.
Linda.
