Today, I was looking through 1st Dibs (ok, procrastination may have been an issue). It was interesting to see how much better my eye is, after the course, and how pearls are much more in context. I now have a much more organized panorama of pearls and all the lose bits of information now have a proper place.
This is neither a critique nor complaint, just an observation. In the comments section of the course (which is much more active now then when I completed it) people seem to be confusing "patent" versus discovery...its explained in the course .
The team is working overtime fielding those questions in the comments area, which makes the course even more exciting that level of interaction, you learn even more as questions are expanded on in reply. It is definitely worth going back and checking in. It is like being in class RT someone will eventually ask a really good question you didn't think to ask.
No problem, for me I feel like I'd don't want to miss anything. With more active students joining and interaction increases on the lectures different perspectives are shared.
Nope, I don't waste time on 1st Dibs. It is market research. Or studying the structure of fine jewelry (come on, those pictures of the backs of spectacular pieces!).
Yeah, I waste too much time there. But my tea of preference is peach or magnolia.
Just curious has anyone received their certificate? I had email issues and wanted to ensure it wasn't inadvertantly deleted. Thanks for any insight y'all can give.
If you took the test before December 6th and haven't received a certificate, email Bo Perry. It should have been sent. I believe December's batch was sent just last week.
I have a feeling that I must have skipped the very last step when I did the test last year. This time a picture of a certificate appeared and that hadn't happened before. Should be good now, thanks Jeremy for the contact though..just in case.
Actually I received my certificate within 2 weeks or less. I am proud of it. I go back to the exam reading material to zip through people's questions. I have learned even more about cultured pearls by reading Mr. Shepard's answers. I keep wondering why the roaring twenties pictures was used in the discussion about American GI's buying pearls to bring home? I got the answer wrong as I focused on the dumb photo rather than the info.
I have a question, did the reading explain why Chinese freshwater pastel pearls should be placed in a dark place , as they will turn white in sunlight??? This comes from Richard Wise book , SECRETS OF THE GEM TRADE.
Yes it is a big deal. You worked hard for that certificate. Be proud you passed. It took time and effort to get through the courses. If it has not arrived in a few weeks , inquire. When did you take the course? Jeremy and associates worked on the course a long time. This certificate put you in a different level of understanding pearls that many lay people do not have. If questioned regarding your knowledge...you have a piece of paper! GIA Is offering a course. It is more costly and the lab time is NY...
