My freshwater pearl drops from China!

I was looking at those akoyas, too. I also noticed the lack of specificity as to whether they were dyed or not, so that was my hold-up on buying them. Please let me know what you think, battah.

You know, I'm sure they're dyed. At that price how could they not be? I'm just hoping they're pretty so I can make a fun rope.

True. They look pretty in those pictures..enough so that several of us eyed them! I'm just curious if they are more grayish or bluish in real life.

That's what the lavender looks like when worn, Kalmen 22. You see some copper, silver, purplish colors...

I'll try to take pics in different lighting so we can get a good idea of color.

Thanks Battah. I look forward to the akoya picture. I was also eyeing the akoyas but hesitated to buy. A reviewer said that some pearls have thin nacre.

Yeah that wouldn't surprise me. I figured they're cheap enough that if they suck, I can just pick out the best few to make earrings or a pendant or something. I have a macro lens attachment for my cell phone (somewhere LOL) so I'll try to get good pictures for you all.

Pareltje they look huge on you. In a good way. Are u loving it? Are they heavy?

Kalmen22 no they are not heavy at all. Perhaps because they are rather flattish on one side of the pearls. I love the size actually.
JerseyPearl, I love combining pearls with denim. It's casual, modern and chic imho.

My mum wearing the lilac pearls I bought from wen. I knotted it with violet beaders secret which made it even nicer giving it a softer feel.
Took 2 pearls out to make earrings for mum. She likes to match.

Pareltje they are a great size on u. Nuggets shape never seen them irl. So interesting

Oh Kalmen22, the necklace you made for mum and the matching earrings are gorgeous! They look pretty on her and good size too.
Wen calls my strand nugget because of the irregular shapes. Some of them look like elongated rosebud pearls without the thorns. These days my 6.5mm akoyas look tiny. Pearl shrinkage syndrome?

Kalmen those are lovely on your mom! And what a nice gift for her :)

My mom has been liking my Tahitians, so I ordered an extra strand from Wen. I hope they look good so I can make her something.

Got my order! Apparently when you use DHL with Wen, it takes 10 days to get the package to the DHL office, then two days to get to the East Coast ;) Overall, I like my stuff. On the Tahitians, I generally prefer more aubergine or blue tones and that's what I already have, and these are mostly green, so it's hard to compare them. But the surfaces are pretty clean and the luster is nice, and I don't see any that I need to toss. I haven't had great natural light for pictures, as it's pretty overcast here today, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they pop on a brighter day.

On the nuggets, they speak for themselves - pretty, cheapie freshies (for a project my mom requested).

On the akoyas, overall I think they're pretty for the price. They were pretty cheap, and they definitely don't really look like I paid a lot for them. They seem to have fairly thin nacre (some of them have tiny tails so you can see it), and I suspect they're dyed. Also, they show blues and pinks and greens like orient, but it's kind of on the surface and doesn't move around as I turn the pearls the way orient does, if that makes sense? So I think it's just a nice dye job. But they're pretty and I'll probably get some more to make myself a fun, inexpensive rope, because why not?

On to pictures! The first picture is just my Wen order. The rest are different comparison shots, with the Tahitians I got at Intergem (the short strand with the spacers, which JerseyPearl most graciously drilled for me), and my Tahitian and akoya keshi strand (pearls from PP). It's comparing apples to oranges because the pearls are pretty different, so they aren't great comparators, but that's what I have!

Battah, thanks a bunch for the pictures you posted. You have helped me decide whether or not I buy the Tahitians from Wen. I think this time I skip buying the circled Tahitians as I already have a rope with the same green color. The akoyas look interesting for me for a tin cup project together with the tiny pearls. I would comb through the akoyas and use only the nice ones though. I wonder what you are going to create with those chunky nuggets. I've seen some of your creations here in this forum and feel like copying them LOL.
Dang! I really fell in love with your Tahitians and keshi necklace in the picture there. I have to source the tiny keshis.... help!
