My conch pearl

You couldn't be more right, Dave about the value already realized! What I'm really worried about is something terrible happening to it! I have certainly seen many conch pearls drilled, but they have been done by experts such a Mikomoto! If I do go that route, I'm going to have to take my time finding the right person to do it!

What a lovely pearl! I am looking forward to seeing how your thoughts and vision regarding just the right setting progress.

That color is enticing. Take your time and thanks for sharing it here. :)

Fiwi, I "think" (will wait for admins to confirm) once you have your first couple posts approved, then it becomes instantaneous afterwards. I see that you are on post 4 so you should be good to go.

Yes, the first two posts must be moderated. :)

Fiwi: The setting from pp is a good choice if you still need some time to think about it. You can use the Mother's Day code now for some savings. Personally I will just drill the pearl n derive maximum joy from it by putting the pearl in a beautiful setting. I'm guessing that you probably won't be selling such a sentimental gift anyway? You can try contacting PP re setting the pearl. I remember that Hisano got a beautiful one from Jeremy: http://blog.pearlparadise.com/2013/08/our-bridal-pearl-jewelry/

Purr: the version with tassels made me think of you

Beautiful conch pearl kiwi, I can't wait to see what you cme up with. Purranha thank you, I must credit Google for the image and Mikimoto for the design, or was it Kay or PinkJewel that post it first...

I wish my pearl was big enough for one of those Paspaley mesh nets! I've been playing around with an idea. My birthstone is Peridot and I happen to have a loose one that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. I created the design pictured below with photoshop. Not sure I like it with the peachy tone of my pearl. Would probably be lovely if it was more pink! Opinions?

Just to give you a better idea of the actual size of my pearl (big for a conch pearl, but not Tahitian pearl big!):

The peridot is pretty, but I think I'd prefer to see the conch pearls with white diamonds or white pearls.

BWeaves, I forgot I have a diamond and pearl brooch that I inherited. I never wear it, so maybe I could rob it of its' diamonds and pearls. There are enough for the necklace & earrings!
The pearls were appraised as extra fine (AAA) 6.3mm

This is the design I am playing with:

But I don't know . . .The peridot is so much more fun!

I like it with the peridot! Maybe you could set it in green gold, or rose gold? Something to pull the green and orange-y together.
