Hi all, some photos here. These are the designer beads that the seller has. The overall necklace seems a little chunky to me, what do you think? Would it be better just using the smaller 3-5mm beads and not this 9.5mm designer beads?

I have requested to replace the clasp with a similar quality Tahitian pearl.

Let me know your views! Just something that caught my eyes, from this photo there seems to be a number of blemished on the pearl surface, that does not seem to be around on the photos initially..Should I be concern? does the color appear the same to you?

I personally prefer the smaller beads and I would do gold color. They bring out the peacock color, whereas the designer beads kill it in my opinion.

Pearlies,

Just my opinion, but my first impression is that the shiny, ornate large beads detract from the lovely colors of the pearls, which you likely want to be the star in the necklace! The silver beads are very beautiful, but probably not best for this necklace. My recommendation would be for simpler and smaller spacers. The color appears to be pretty much the same as in the original pictures. I'm not noticing more blemishes. You will soon have a beautiful and unique necklace to wear!

How about small diamond beads? I would say bead size should be about 3-4mm, max 5mm. I think those beads in the picture detract from the beauty of the pearls too. I may post more later. Am typing in the car, no not driving.

I love the way the tiny diamonds look between pearls, but maybe only the smooth-cut ones, no sharp edges.

I would avoid anything man made in a piece like that. It would have to be precious metal, or gemstone beads. I think tiny titanium beads might look good though

I have a Tahitian keshi necklace with Bali silver spacers. The silver still looks great a couple of years after I strung it. I absolutely love the keshi and the silver. My camera only takes terrible pictures of pearls, or I would oblige with a photo.

Certainly Caitlin, smooth diamond beads would prevent scratching the pearls. I like Bali beads too. Your keshi necklace sounds lovely with those spacers.

Pearlies,

The pearls' colors in the new picture look about the same as the original pictures, still very strong peacock. The surface in the new picture seems fine. Keep in mind that A (Tahitian grading)/AAA-graded baroque pearls tend to have more surface irregularities compared to round pearls. As long as the irregularities are less than 10% of the surface, they are still A http://www.perlesdetahiti.net/site/en/511.html . IMO, keep the design simple to retain the high-end quality of the pearls, as the colors are exceptional already. The showcase should be the pearls but the beads currently grab the attention.

I don't know current prices, if yellow sapphire beads are less costly you can use those to substitute for yellow gold, unless you don't wear yellow gold on a regular basis.

Thank you all for the input! Honestly, This is not the look I am after too. I prefer something like Cathy's attachment. I agree on something 2-5mm small, will try to find some alternative and will be back soon:)

One more thing, I am looking at the 2 strands as shown on page 1. The colorful strand described as Baroque, but in detailed description is described as drop shape, so my question is, what exactly are the differences between a Baroque and Drop? Btw, are those aquamarine, natural chocolate, midnight blue, peacock green common colors or are they hard to come by? thanks

Hi Ramona,

You can get quality vermeil beads with 3 microns of 24kt gold over sterling silver from agustus-collection on eBay. You can trust them totally. I often buy things from them and you always get quality. This should take you to the page with the vermeil beads http://stores.ebay.com.au/AGUSTUS-C...851854010&_sid=16055350&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 ...

They used to sell a lot more solid 22 kt gold but with the gold prices so high they have moved into gold over silver and silver as well. Still have some
gold but not a lot. But I totally recommend them.

Thanks Dawn. Yes, that is my source for gold beads so far. I like their workmanship. However, I am looking for more modern shapes and thought about commissioning some beads from him. He seems to use relatively thick plating, so I would be sure the gold layer stays for many years.

If I'd know that everyone wanted vermeil beads I would have got them in Hong Kong last week, instead of just earrings, clasps, pins and jumprings. dang!

Baroque means that the pearls don't have a axis of symmetry and a bit more random in shape. Drop has an axis of symmetry, but won't have rings covering 30% or more of there surface. To be exact, the strand is a circled strand, but baroque is often used interchangeably on the retail side, or even "circled drop" to describe surface and shape. The latter two are often used but not technically correct.

Hi Jeremy tk for the reply! so are those aquamarine, natural chocolate, midnight blue, peacock green in the colorful strand common colors or are they hard to come by? tks

Hi do u think that these 7-8.6mm SS creamy pearls will look good together with Strand1 approx 8.5-10.9(peacock) or Strand2 approx 8.2-10.5(colorful)? I am thinking of a mix necklace, but can't convince myself that the color flows..:)

Hi pearlies,
Those are pretty. Certainly on the small end of size for SS. I would not mix white pearls with either of the dark strands as the contrast would be quite stark.
What is your relationship to the blogspot website?

Marianne

Hi Marianne tks for the reply, I agree:)

That is my blogspot. I am a custom-jeweler dealing with gemstones and customized design:)

Hi l I'll need some help here:) I've purchased the peacock strand. Where can I find 2-5mm 14k solid white gold beads (with small holes maybe 0.5mm as I would not want the knot to pass through)?
