image.jpg here is a shot of the gold Edison's

image.jpg some pretty 8-10 Tahitians ! There are so many pearls it's easy to be overwhelmed . But it's fun as. you just keep running into people . Cees , Betty Sue King and I went to an interesting GIA lecture on pearl identification given by Nicholas Sturman . He gave an excellent presentation that had a broad appeal . Lots of interesting photos that showed how they use various machines to identify various pearl types and detect treatments. Saw Jack Lynch and Wendy Graham ( feeling proud of herself for keeping up her blog ...made me feel guilty so I posted three photos lol but I must go have a look ! )

I see what you mean about the gold Edisons! I suppose they have found a way to use their lower grade pearls.

I like those Tahitians!

Very pretty pearls...interesting about the Edisons. I bought a strand several years ago from PP and one of the reasons I selected my particular strand was because of a golden pearl. It isn't dyed, but really a very close color to a 14k GSSP.

Those Tahitians are lovely...they look to be lighter body color, which I think highlights the overtones very nicely. Did you pick any up?

HOPE you don't mind, Katbran, but I really wanted to see these 2 photos in different orientation. The Tahitians are really pretty ... the gold dyed Edisons, well ... interesting ... but that's just my own opinion.

Wow gorgeous pearls, I love the Tahitians! Thanks for sharing.

Once again thanks to Cathy for turning my world right side up ! Lol

The Goldens aren't for embryo ne but I could easily see working a few of them them into a toursade for a pop of colour ..but as a stand alone necklace they don't measure up.

Needless to say the Tahitians were not the low end ! Lol the lighting,in the convention center is dreadful . I use an iPad and it's not up to the task ... These were much prettier in person ( usually with photos it's the other way around with T's ! ) it was just a random seller but they caught my eye as all their pearls were nice ...sadly I'd already blown out the budget lol

hello Katbran have you spent all your money for pearls on first day?
I've spent near or more than half my money BEFORE the show, lol, i hope to be more patient on next HK show on March, but i think it is as with sales, "if you find what makes your eyes wide open and wanting dancing, and if you can buy it, so buy it, tomorrow perhaps it will be no more !!"

PEARLSADDICTION- I did spend almost my entire budget well before the show lol I do enjoy sitting at the Office tables catching up with different people from around the world all in different areas of the Pearl business. ( one woman sat for days just matching 7- 8mm pearl earrings from an ENORMOUS plastic tub of AAA multi coloured pearls, She had hundreds of pairs - shoot me.. seriously) . Some were pearl artists who do one off things, big buyers, little buyers, Israelis, Russians, Indian,Netherlands,Germans. Most of whom are friendly .
At the show there were two older Israeli gentlemen who sat next to me at three different companies ... very very hard bargainers. I told them I was going to hire them to bargain for me and we had a laugh. After they left I said to the salesman..I'll have two of those for the price they paid. He laughed and gave them to me. I felt like I should just follow them around the whole show.

I was with Betty Sue King( world renown Pearl Goddess) at the show when we saw a Purple Edison strand in the 'special' case at one seller. I asked the price and was told a huge sum... well over 40k ( that's wholesale baby) So we brought them out into the light ( which admittedly is terrible there) and I snapped a photo for you guys. On the counter was an almost identical strand... 15000 and in the next tray one for 8000 . 99% of the people out there could not tell the difference . ( and you can see in the photo that they were not even well colour matched - which was the first thing Betty Sue said to the salesman) But I thought you'd like the pictures. IMG_1854.jpg

They look like grape gumballs, Katbran! Astonishing.

And so is the price tag. I could totally renovate my kitchen for that.

Love reading your posts about the fair Katbran. I'm living vicariously through your posts wishing I could once attend and shop But then, I would be overwhelmed with the choices.
