Circled pearls: why do they grow like that?

Pearl_dreams,
Wendy says it all, really. "Never too long". :)
However, Olga's 18" and 36" worn together is a fabulous idea.
That way, you can join together or wear singly as the occasion and your mood dictates.
This week, I've strung four or five 36" ropes and I've another four waiting to be strung.

And today while at the kitchen sink I happened to look down and this is what I saw.....

Thanks ladies...what if I were to use identical clasps --say, a decorative toggle-- on the 18" and 36" so they could be joined end to end too?

Hi Pearl_dreams,
So long as they're identical, any clasps would do the job.
My personal preference is ball clasps.

I also vote for two identical ball clasps rather then for a complicated clasp for a double-strand.

Thanks ladies. Looks like I'll be getting some practice with my knotting soon!

>>> Taking notes about Olga's excellent idea to wear a 18in and a 36in together :D

DK :)

I have a question of:
Satine De La Courcel's Avatar
regarding:

Quote: "At one time if one could not afford silk. Horse hair or Linen was used. oh and the holes in pearls were much bigger than what we are capable of drilling today."

Can you explain and give some history & timelines about holes in pearls being much bigger than we drill today?

Thank you.

Pearl Poor

They look great on you, Olga - congratulations!
