Chinese student coming to US

Hi Yikai! Welcome to the board and soon to the US. Your english is amazing. How long have you spoken a second language? Are you going to know anyone in Indiana? What made you choose that particular school?

I'm not near Indiana, but live in Atlanta Georgia. I often wonder how folks learn all the local slang. If I said, "I'm fixing to tell him a whopper and he's gonna be so got away with!" would you know what I meant?

Could it mean that you are arranging that someone is telling a story that is unbelievableand that the poor guy who?s being told, will believe it despite it being quite a fantasy/lie?

Thanks danachit. I've learned English for about 10 years. I love learning forein languages! Recently I am learning Spanish from a teacher who is from Chile, but lived in Oregon for forty years. I am looking forward to meeting people in Indiana. American people are great! I have met many Americans, and they are all very nice. Actually my university in China has a Sino-US program with University of Indianapolis. It is a very interesting program.

By your local slang, I think you meant "I'm going to tell him a lie, an he is gonna buy it easily!"
