Baroque Akoyas

OM Goodness! Casey they are wonderful! Almost sorry I didn't have mine knotted at Pearl Paradise that way I could put them on instantly.

Boo! Granny Smith Green and Circus Orange? I know Granny Smith. Circus Orange, is that Bozo orange? I had hair that color once but that's another story.

Are you still doing a long, flowing strand? Do they put a clasp on for that or do they endless knot it? Just curious.

I really think we need to send every one of these back for Pearl Paradise to photo all these wonderful colors -- then send them back to us! LOL

I have to go look at my strands for other colors. Then I have to go to Home Depot for paint chips so I can envision these colors.

Argh - was that 117 she persuaded you to buy? I would've loved that one. Sigh ... I was still contemplating either 110 or 124, but there was always something lacking. I'm hoping someone will return another of the larger strands ...

I'm starting to feel queasy.

I may have to call in sick tommorow.

And curl up in bed with my pearls!

I can't wait for them to get here. Casey, that's a fantastic photo:)

ARGHH!

Hi Gemgeek, Thanks for all the info on your website and designing. Sounds like you have a great supplier. Do you have a photo of the strand you donated at Tucson? I think we would all love to see it.

I am so jealous of people getting their strands already. yet ANOTHER downside of living abroad. :( Although I amhoping it is soon, I clicked the fastest shipping, and I called PP and spoke to Kirsten on Friday morning and she thought my strand had already been sent to the stringer. I had the best conversation with her, by the way. She told me that all the necklaces were beautiful, and the grade differences were pretty subtle, so I think we will all be pleased, no matter which strand we bought. I was really fast, my order was probably placed within five minutes of the email hitting my inbox. lol

Please keep continuing to post photos. I can't get enough!

Alas, I didn't take a photo of the silver necklace. I did give GIA Alumni two necklaces. The second one has a twin on my website, so I'll post the photos here for Salem's sake.

I'm really interested in unusual pearls. I don't know how well it comes across in the photos, but even with big fat blemishes, the natural shades of pink & apricot are luminous. Obviously bead-nuked. This had to be strung on coated wire because of the weight.

Also, as long as I'm at it, an artist friend is commissioning a sort of loose torsade with beads and swarovski crystals. I've done one of the eight strands with intermittent interspersed glass beads. She's trading me a watercolor painting:)

Where, oh where, are my baroque akoyas? I know what my dreams will be made of tonight....Casey's photograph!

Cheers,
Blaire

Hi Gem Geek
Wonderful work!
I'd love to see you put it up in your own thread in Show Us Your Pearls.......
as well as any others you'd like to share. :)

Hi Boo, Blaire and Youngster

and thanks for trying to console me. Once I have got the strand and can get some help from my daughter, I certainly will oblige with a pic of it. It could take some time though.... and I am going to post it under "Show us Your pearls", so You know where to look.

You're right. I'll post under "Show Us Your Pearls". And thanks, Caitlin:) You guys are the best!

I'm on the road today, so I told them at work to call me when Mr FedEx arrives;)

I'm hoping mine turn up today, but they probably won't appear until later in the week.

Did any other strands have over tones like the apple green and circus orange or just that one? Most of them looked blue on my screen though I saw some pink.

I love seeing pictures of what the arrived ones look like.

Hi GemGeek,

Thanks for posting pictures for my sake. lol I can't wait to see them. Although I am a bit confused. It seems Caitlin say the photos by her 'nice work' comment, but on my screen, it says attachments pending approval. Does anyone else see this message? I can usually see people's photos, and I am not sure why there aren't coming up. Anyway, I am sure the pictures will be beautiful once I can see them. lol

I can't believe I typed the word "gander". lol The pink necklace looks very pretty, I especially like the clasp. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see more i the "show us your pearls" section.

Casey R. what description did your pearls have? I mean are they good, intense, medium or slight orient and clean or lightly blemished? They have such pretty blues and pinks. Did they look white/silver with overtones in the Pearl Paradise pic or more blue? I love them.

aerinha,
They were listed as medium orient with slight blemishing and good luster. They looked a bit more silver than blue in the Pearl paradise photo but there is actually a lot of blue in them and pink too ( a touch of something else here and there). In certain lighting the colors are swirly like an oil slick. But one of the really cool things about them is that they look good under bright sunlight which isn't true for all pearls. You'll see when you get yours.

Forgot to mention that as far as blemishing goes I can see them when I look closely but I don't generally notice them.

Gemmy: The last pic looks more like work(s) in progress. :) We've all got some of those! One day ...

Yep, I have to finish that necklace before I go, so I'd better get crackin'.

No pearls today, they won't be coming until Thursday. How can I wait???? Ahrrgg! If anyone else gets their pearls, please give us a photo so we can live vicariously. This makes me feel like a member of a secret club. We suffer together now, but eventually we all will be smiling!

Cheers,
Blaire

2 of my 3 baroque akoya strands arrived in the mail today. 154 listed as blemished with slight orient looks very blue and like near round cfwp, looks round on the neck. The blemishes aren?t as numerous as that description made me fear and they have a nice glow. 116 was listed as lightly blemished, though I can?t find a thing wrong with it, with intense orient. When held up against something white, I can see what orient is as these pop with aqua and purple then. I held them against my army green skirt and they blended in, but looked blue next to my denim jacket (it?s about 65 degrees in my office today). White is the best background to see these against I must say.

A woman in my office was close to ripping them out of my hands and wanted the name of the place I bought them at. She was also eying the baroque Tahitians I have on today, so Jeremy I maybe sending business your way as I told her where I got all 3.

Strand 101 has not arrived yet, but will give a description on that when it comes.

Oh, and mine were strung with the tiniest ball clasps I have ever seen. These clasps are adorable! And for anyone who is worried, they are very easy to use even though they are small, I tried one of my strands on already on top of the pearls I had on and had not problems. I personally prefer ball clasps to the flat ovalish kind for ease of use.

WOO HOO! Thank You Jeremy and Kirsten!!!:) :) :)

Here are my shiny new children...

Yay,
Blaire

I feel the same way <sigh> ;)

The thing I can't show is how the orient shifts color as they move in relation to the light. Unbelievable.

Cheers,
Blaire

Ooooh, those look great and you captured the detail in the photo! You must be very pleased with your new pearls :)
