So from what I read in this thread, Sakata in Chicago is an off-shoot of the one in Japan?
Also, my husband's grandmother used to work for Caterpillar in Peoria, IL and received this brooch from a Japanese contact in the 1970s or 80s (she can't remember the exact year). She never wore it, afraid it would diminish the value. I'm certain these are akoya pearls given the age, and the metal is 14k white gold. It is beautiful! I'm including pictures sp everybody can see the eye candy and give any extra info if you happen to have any
