Anyone bought from pearllunar?

That is certainly very off-putting. They should not have dismissed your complaint so quickly.

Have you emailed them a picture of what you got? If you do that, place a ruler or a coin in the photo to help show the size of the item you received. They ought to refund all your return shipping if the mistake was theirs-- maybe if you can prove that to their satisfaction, they will make this right.

I thought I read somewhere that there were several sites with similar names... Pearluna (w/ 1 L), Pearlluna (w/ 2 Ls), Pearlunar, etc. Please confirm if the website you are having trouble with is indeed Pearlluna (w/ 2 Ls).

Spaceneedle is right about the different pearllunas- so lets get that straight. At least 2-3 people have ordered from them so far, with decent results- so experiment if you are inclined, but don't order too much. If they cheat, we can let them know that the biggest pearl informational site in the world is breathing down their necks. muah haha

I haven't ever purchased from pearllunar, and have only found their store through this forum. The plump rice pearl photos look pretty fantastic, though!

I'm not sure who posted the link to apex_pearls - I have used their ebay store quite a few times - they are probably the only ebay seller from whom I have received consistent quality. I have found though that the diamaters listed are very much on the "Chinese" side - I don't own calipers, but I would guess at least a half millimetre to one millimetre smaller than stated. I have a couple of multicoloured almost round strands from apex_pearls that have been simply stunning. What has everyone else's experience with them been like?

I think, I was the first one to mention them. I'm still buying from them and I agree with you: quality is constant and reliable. Like ALL ebay sellers they exaggerate little bit the size and quality, but if you read description carefully - you know what you should expect as delivered product. I also like easy communication with them.

Hi,

I had a reply from PearlLunar; by the way, they are the same seller everyone is talking about here. They offered two options: to return the pearls for a full refund (they would refund the postage as well) or they would just refund the difference of $15. I must say the pearls are beautiful, however not the size stated (they are just not 7mm in diameter, but 6mm). So, I agreed to keep the pearls and receive the $15 refund. They also said that the term 'round pearls' usually means off round in freshwater pearls (not sure what 'off round' means in this case) and that 3 strands of 7mm in diameter pearls weigh approx 70g.

In short, the pearls are really nice, however smaller than expected. So, if anyone is going to buy from them - watch the size. It would be worth buying pearls 1mm bigger than what they state, to receive the pearls of required size. I would probably use them again, as the delivery was quite fast and they replied to emails fast, the quality of the pearls is nice.

Could anyone give me the link to apex_pearls, as I am not able to find them on eBay.

Excellent consumer information.

And Ivonna and you are right about the sizes. Absolutely right. Except it is the industry standard, not just this outfit. It now has to do the legally allowable range.
For example A 10 mm can be about anything over 9.0, like say 9.1 to 10 mmm and you may only get one 10mm in a strand.
(Jeremy has explained it at least twice, but I am still not positive of the actual allowances for size.)
Here in the US, honest businessmen measure in actual sizes- but expect to get the small end of the size you choose when you order from China.

I like a lot of their photos. They seem to be appealing to us discerning consumers who love those coppery greeny lavender blue lusters. I like their color descriptions and I think a good eye matched them. Are they really as saturated as some appear to be?

These guys are difinitely under our scrutiny and I am holding good thoughts about them.

Now if only Jeremy would collect an inventory of beading pearls and start selling to us lowly beader types

I just want to add that

"Tahitian black pearls" means
dyed black (or peacock) freshwaters.
If you know your Tahitians and freshwaters, you won't be fooled.

I had to add these:

very round, almost round means egg shaped. Some are less and some are more. Some are VERY more.

AAAA means the seller's personal best. Do not try to compare a AAAA from one seller to another, but realize the AAA is less than AAAA from the same seller and so on. As for Care Ehret's AAAAA++++ means she can barely stand to sell it......

A good rule of thumb is if you want better quality, buy 4 strands and high grade. Then the leftovers from the other three strands can be put up for sale on eBay as a "lot" of loose pearls, or you can thread them up and give them away.

They aren't all as dark as they appear in the photos, particularly the lavenders, but the overtones are right-on. To see their photos vs mine look here

Those photos are why I bid on and won won a couple of strands of pearls with overtones. small like 5-6mm.

They have really pretty things. I'm happy to hear they are as described. One day, I'll have to order a few things.

I don't mind buying small ticket items from them, but I hate that they pad the shipping. Registered mail from China take a few weeks to arrive doesn't cost US$15 per item, with or without discount. I'd rather they list the items higher and show the price for what it is. It's just an extra calculation for me to decide if the "postage" is worth it. Still, for a small consumer it's worthwhile. If only the lavenders were a bit more saturated in real life. They photograph much deeper.

I like some of their designs, but I wouldn't buy the top grades and anything over say $50 an item.

I do something like this when buying pearls at local gem shows as well-- I buy several strands, pick the best 2 pearls for earrings, the next best pearls for a necklace, and usually I use the remaining ones for a bracelet, omitting the worst pearls.

That is interesting. So a 10 mm strand means the middle pearl in the strand is 10 mm while the rest is smaller?

What about a single pearl like a pendant? They are required to give exact size in that case, do they?

Seems like they do read the boards. Otherwise they wouldn't change their tune so quickly to the consumer's advantage. All in all I am happy with their items especially for the price. The shipping policy also seems to have changed. They probably get alot of business from the members here, not to mention the lurkers. It's to their benefit to listen to the consumers.
