365 Days of Pearls

Thanks, BWeaves and Katbran! The tin cups alone or layered just make my heart sing!

BAS, it’s a gorgeous lavender rope. Wonderful shapes, color and overtones and great surfaces too. Would you believe I wore it a couple of times and then put it away for a couple of years?! Shaking head in disbelief. I wear it regularly now.:)

Aww, what wonderful gifts for your kids.. wonderful idea! Just lovely pairing of those tin cups too!

Thanks, GemGeek. Smiling.

Day 264:

How can I put this...? The pearl necklaces were not the hit I thought they’d be.

My 11 year old grimaced both times I urged him to try on his necklace. “Why does the rubber yank on my hair?!” Sigh. I really like the rubber part; it stretches easily to fit over the head...

I turned hopefully to my youngest who has always been interested in my pearls. He can differentiate between my Tahitians, South Sea, and fwp!
Me: “Noah, what do you think of your pearl necklace?”
Noah: “It’s nice.” His eyes glaze over. “What kind of pearl is it...”.
I’m about to launch into an explanation about baroque Tahitians but he’s not listening. There are unwrapped toys under the tree lol.

It’s ok, plenty of time for them to appreciate pearls as they grow older. And they assured me I could borrow their necklaces any time I want!

Some pictures : )

LOL LOL LOL ... I had the same experience a few years ago with grandson. Loved the pearl necklace on leather cord, but wouldn't put it on ... but "I love it; I think I'll hang it on my bulletin board ..." After I told him it was like a pearl a pirate would wear he wanted to wear it :) But now I doubt he'd wear one, sigh. Hard to compete with unwrapped presents too ;)

What the boys need is one of their friends to say, "Wow, that's cool!" And then they'll want to wear them. Now trying to pull that off is another story.

Cathy and BWeaves— you are full of wonderful insight!

Day 265:

As I mentioned in battah’s thread, I bought a South Sea harvest strand during one of Pearl Paradise’s flash sales.

Full disclosure: in case anybody recalls, this is my second harvest strand. I’m a little self conscious about it, but not enough to dampen my enthusiasm. Big pearls, little pearls, ringed ones, crinkly ones. The necklace is loaded with personality and I’m in LOVE!

The first rope was approx 90” and this one is about 54”

First two pics are Pearl Paradise glamour shots.

Your newest harvest is just glorious. And that keshi. I just adore that big white keshi thrown in! Wear in health, my dear friend.

Love that huge golden center pearl, the deep blue keshi, and those big luscious crinckled white keshi. That is a special rope indeed.

BN, what a lovely rope, something about the blue keshis makes it extra gorgeous!

I'm chuckling a little about your guy-pearl gifts. I decided my CA family were each getting surfer-style Tahitians on adjustable leather. They vacation at the beach quite often. My D-I-L said she wore hers, but noted a definite lack of enthusiasm from the others, oh well. (Grandson, 12 and Granddaughter, 15.)

BN, what a fabulous harvest strand! And your description of the boys' responses was classic. Give them a little time to come around!
J.
