J.C.O 1925 box of graduated pearl necklace

That looks like a 8 x 4 mm marquise...measure it...that would be around ,5 ct. It just looks bigger than .32 but maybe its the year? Not sure if the 1925 could have been the year of start of business...

J.C.O 1925 box of graduated pearl necklace

Check the drill holes. If you see the nacre line then save the $ on testing. Still the clasp is where most of the value is if they are cultured. Natural who knows...just depends on what someone wants to spend but them they are rare. Its unusual to have platinum unmarked but it happens. I have a...

J.C.O 1925 box of graduated pearl necklace

Platinum & huge diamond for a clasp!!! I thought maybe the small could be natural & large cultured. Give it a nice bath soak as everyone says mild soap & dry it well. Check the drill holes...tug if you need to as they should be restrung but have them tested first. At least if you can't see a...

Show us your very first pearls?

Those are old earrings &I love that style. The single one they sort of call that a french lock. Its also used in olde russian earrings. First earring I wish I bought as it was $150 but it looked like the space under the bar was very short. 2nd earrings are from the 30's & I borrowed & did a bal...

J.C.O 1925 box of graduated pearl necklace

32 could be .32 ct diamond. It looks rather large though.. I'd check if the diamond was real. They are interesting but you never know if they came in that box! If its white gold then white gold was a bit rare in 1925...Its hard to know exactly when it started to be used but its around that date...

    365 Days of Pearls

Thanks! They do seem to nest well together & spacing between lengths is pretty symetrical except middle strand is the larger Mikimoto.

Its also on the pearl ring from ebay I posted link. Seems to be on pearl pieces. The ring appears to be decent quality but most of the PJS jewelry has been cheap freshwater.

    Black Pearls...Dyed Freshwater?

Have to check that out. I have one larger old spare 14mm wide oval white gold clasp. Just checked it & it says 14KT & then space & a S...wonder if that could mean 14k over silver. It shouldn;t but who knows. It wieghs .4 grams but small clasps are light. I don;t think I would spend the money...

The 7 strand natural pearls that sold for over 9 millions $ in Geneva yesterday

Nice to take a peek at such rare treasures. Pink diamonds in vivid are very rare & large sizes even rarer. Gosh even tiny pink diamonds are pricy. 1 ct vivid pink is many times more $ than white & pinks are rare in good grades so even SI 1 & 2 are costly. I guess pink diamonds will be even...

    365 Days of Pearls

I layered last night just for the fun of it long enough to take pictures then removed them. Good thing is they hide the neck & port scar. Hard thing is trying to keep the graduated larger pearl center.

clasps -- I mean pearls -- from ebay

Sometimes on old pearls the clasp is the best part but the pearl look nice. Earring pearl is not quite in focus but looks like a pretty thick nacre /bead dividing line. Maybe too thick 1/3 of bead size from what one would expect so need a clearer photo.

    Black Pearls...Dyed Freshwater?

Thanks but the clasp is just a plain light yellow gold & of no interest to me as I like white gold but the strand was not expensive. I could test the clasp just in case I sell it for what it is. I bought pretty sure it was not tahitian but I have not seen many tahitians. I must see more...I...

Of course the big gold pair is stunning but color I like the most would be the 2nd down on right and then the 4th down R reddish brown.

The secret of Empress Josephine's pearl necklace

Look like the same drops. The drops might predate the strand which could have been made later. Seems Empress is about 40 in both the photos so it would be about 1800? She may have worn them on different strands. Wild how they were made like enhancers. I like the drop pearls better than the...
