Hi Barry, you sent a message to yourself and not a post. But, used pearls do not resell well, so I would not count on getting much money for them. Try looking at eBay to get an idea of prices. Good Luck.
I'm urgently needing to find out what my pearl necklace is worth. Family Emergency. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm sending a few pics.
I just saw this, thanks Pattye! You have to keep sight of the important things in life, you know?
Jewellery once owned by the famous Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, will be up for auction through Sotheby’s in November.
Entitled Royal Jewels from the Bourbon-Parma Family, the auction will span centuries of European history, including the reign of King Louis XVI and the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Sotheby’s considers the collection owned by Marie Antoinette to be one of the “most important jewellery collections to ever appear on the market”.
It will be the second time Antoinette's jewels have graced a Sotheby’s auction in 2018. The auction house sold the French Royal’s 6-carat blue diamond for US$6.7 million (AU$9m) back in May, for buy house maresme. Many of Antoinette's jewels have not been viewed since her reign and were shipped by the royal family to Brussels during political upheaval of the French Revolution.
Dear parfaite lumière,

I was wondering where you find Hippopus pearls. Are they coming from Indonesia? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Kind regards,
Nhan
Dear All,

I think I have this kind of Wilma Flintstone stand :). The story of the this pearl was: My husband knew that I love pearls. He asked me if I want pearls on Valentine's day. I can't decide on what to buy given the budget that he gave. So finally, I told him that I think I would buy this pearl (on an online store). So, when the pearls came, it's huge!!! It's a baroque south sea pearl (?). My husband said that it's too big. I'm thinking of returning it

Hi Karen:

My Mom bought me the little ruby heart / pearl drop earrings about 20 years ago from Mayor's Jewelers.

I tend to spin on a spindle more than my wheels, just because I can take the spindle with me. I spin fine, so I don't need to bring much with me in my purse.

If you're interested in finding out more about pearls, search on the PearlsAsOne course. There should be a coupon code to take it for free.

Hi, I’m new here but have been interested in your posts. I love your weaving posts since I like knitting. I have a spinning wheel but have not been able to use it very often.

I’m currently trying to come up with my pearl purchasing plan. The more I read, the more I learn about pearls AND the more feel like I know nothing.

What drew me to contact you was a post with your 5mm pearl drop and ruby heart earrings. They are so pretty! Is there any chance you remember where you got them?

I’m in my early 50s so it’s time to really start collecting. I’ve always love stones and pearls but raising a family and college tuitions got in the way, though I do own a few pieces. I’m fairly petite and I think smaller pearls might look best on me..... so much to learn!

Anyway, I enjoy all your posts I’ve seen. Thanks! ☺️

I am new to the world of pearls and am looking for more info on crab pearls. How they are formed, can they be polished, how to care for? I bit into one on my anniversary and even though it's not as lustrous as some it has special meaning to me and I would like to preserve & make a necklace out of it. Shine it up too if possible without damaging it. Has only been one week and already it seems to have dried out a bit and is not as shiny. I also can hear what I believe pearl folks call "the nucleus" when I shake it. Very bizarre. The fact that this came out of my king crab leg and was cooked perhaps has ruined any chance of this pearl lasting? Can anyone give me some guidance, website links on science based or experience based crab pearl information? All would be welcome. I have tried a few times to upload some photos, not sure why it isn't working, but would be happy to send images along to anyone who can help.
:confused:Thanks so much!!
Welcome to the forum, Haylea! I see a few of you have joined that were referred by Wendy. I hope you will enjoy visiting here. :)
