What kind of natural?

Those are amazing photos of yours Dave. Should say an amazing pearl too. What lovely specimen or is it specimens? Not sure if there is more than one pearl there.

Great information and diagrams on the pearls too. Just what we need. I will be adding some of my naturals to the Candling thread.

cultured akoya, no doubt for me message 28 pictures 6-7( nucleus and conchitine layer visible) and 11-12, nuckeus layers are visible.
Also visibl on very first picture of the original post.

But I comment more for this reason:

"Pinctada radiata, is commonly known as the Atlantic pearl oyster or the Gulf pearl oyster. It ranges across the entire Indo-Pacific, north to Japan and south to Australia. Incidentally, it is been classified an invasive species in the Mediterranean since it's introduction via the Suez Canal subsequent to it's construction."

Interesting fact, about the pinctada radiata-maculata-martensii, etc.
I didn't understand why it was described as invasive specie in mediterranea, but the suez canal makes sense for me now.
