Two pearls cat brooch/pin.

Hey,

So I found this adorable two pearls cat brooch/pin on Ebay :

The seller claims this is from Mikimoto, but I can't find this brooch anywhere else than from the seller himself. Does anyone have an opinion on the legitimacy of this? Does anyone know where I can find something similar other than from this seller? Could it be custom made for a fair price? If so, from which company?

I have seen this before, but I don't remember the brand. That price is outrageous for a silver pin. Holefully someone will be familiar with it.

Thanks for your reply. Yup, I've been investigating this all day and the price indeed makes no sense for silver. I would estimate there's about 10 grams of metal in there, which is about $65 in silver (or $400 in gold). Actually, I'm thinking about trying to make this myself, using white and pink gold ! This would be a gift for a very special girl and I assume telling her I did that myself would completly blow her away (wouldn't it?). I already did some (very basic) soldering in the past and gold casting actually seems quite straightforward and doable with fairly inexpensive tools (eg. clay, a dremel, soldering iron, butane torch)...

What bothers me more is that both pics do not show the brooch/pin, only the box and the bag.

Agree with Blaire that the price is outrageous for such a small brooch.

It says "Mikimoto style" It's a cute little kitty though, I'd forget any connection to Mikimoto.
