I'm not sure I would call them twins. But maybe there is something I'm missing.
 
Please tell us more- like where thy came from. The top one is unusual to say the least. I saw one other pearl the color of the bottom one. It was said to have come from near the Celebes. I think we have a photo of it somewhere.
 
I call this twin pearls, they were found attached together on a brown lip shell.

That shell is referred to as a Pteria penguin, also known as the butterfly or winged shell. In Japan is is referred to as the mabe oyster, and was the original shell used for mabe production (in Japan, not China).

The first picture does not seem to be of a pair of blister pearls. Can you expound on them?
 
I thought so too. Is this a rare thing to happen? Its like, for lack of a better word "paternal twins".
 
Thread bump! Short, but well worth the look at pearls at the bottom of the thread.
