Traveling pearl on vacation

I’m on vacation in Hawaii! It’s a favorite destination and I am here a lot. I thought I would take you window shopping with me on this trip.

First, let me introduce you to the traveling pearl. This was a PP purchase from around 10 years ago. Jeremy coined it the traveling pearl because it has been everywhere with me and I have often sent him photos from my travels. It is usually the only piece of jewelry I take with me on trips. It is a 12mm green body with peacock overtones, Tahitian.

This is a purchase from yesterday, for starters. A three Tahitian dangle pendant. It is from Te Hotu Mana. I took several pictures of their booth from a show I was at yesterday and will add them later today along with more info, but here’s the pendant for now. I chose it because of the vibrant colors, and there is a tiny keshi on the chain extender.

Here are several photos from the Te Hotu Mana booth. John and his wife currently live on Maui, but he is originally from Tahiti.




I really loved this pendant!












This is another three pearl dangle. The colors are more rare in this one with a very purple pearl, and pistachio.

This is a bracelet that I purchased from them a year ago. Very colorful pearls and a keshi dangle.

Another vendor who let me take several photos is Mark Kaneshiro. His business is called Mark Kane designs. These are all original designs and have quite a weight to the gold. There are several jewelry stores across the islands that carry some of his pieces.

I purchased the green Tahitian posts sitting in the dish. They are 10mm.

Here are two 14kt gold pendants I purchased from him last year.

This is a signature piece called the Double Wahine.

Next is Kehau’s Tahitian jewelry. I tracked her down today, but couldn’t get there until later this afternoon, so I am not sure what goodies I missed out on seeing. In the 90’s, she was a manager at Robert Wan’s store in the Royal Hawaiian. I have a couple of her mother of pearl necklaces like the one she is wearing. I really like the style because it is so different.

This is a ring I purchased from Kehau today. It has an open band with a mother of pearl flower on one end, with a Tahitian center, and on the other end is a Tahitian keshi.
