I hate to trouble you again, but could you give us a comparative weight for your largest CFW strand?

I imagine the size and predictability of the Edison's will be their strength.

Edisons are about as predictable as any other pearl, from the ones I have met so far. Some are still better than others in terms of shape, surface lustre and colour

Really? Don't you think they'll be more likely to be predictably round than tissue-only nucleated CFW, of the same size?

and thanks, Amrita, for the weight. The Edison's don't weigh a whole lot more than CFW do they? That's a plus.

I used to say something very similar about the red book on bringing up children the health visitor read. It set out the amount of sleep children need at different ages from birth to 10 years old. Sadly, Isaac hadn't read the damn book, and therefore thought he needed a lot less sleep! Still does, mind you.

Amanda, I know where you're coming from - having 2 of my own..:)
Lisa, I actually think the Edisons weigh about the same as FWPs - the little difference in weight that you see above can be attributed to the difference in the pearl sizes of the 2 strands (12.5-15mm versus 12.5-13.5mm)
 
They still grow the perfect-skinned round Kasumi pearls in Japan. They are very valuable. I think most of the smooth ones are sold by Perlen Yukie at AGTA to international clientele. (A company in Germany owned by a German/Japanese family.) Although they aren't as interesting as the wrinkled lovelies that Sarah at Kojima Company has in abundance, I've seen smooth ones at her booth. If a pearl is fabulous, she usually has it. :)

I don't think the Edisons are quite the same, but the colors are there. It must be very discouraging to the farmers at Lake Kasumigaura to see their pearls being knocked off.

Anyway, I must confess I like very much the crumpled paper look like of kasumi ...
