The designer's corner

I'm quite pleased with this - enh pink big ripple vermeil tourma3866.jpg

big pearl, vermeil and faceted tourmalines

Gorgeous pearl and tourmalines, what a fun piece!

Gorgeous, Wendy! I love how the tourmalines pick up the color in the pearl.

Wow, I love how that design works the eye! Is it built upon a spiral? It's really engaging!

not a spiral, simple jump rings on a post dropped into the half drill on the big pearl, then the enhancer put on when I got bored with wire wrapping the tourmalines (!)
I could be all artisting and talk about how the jump rings allow for movement in wear and stuff like that but really that was just how I decided to make it. I needed something fairly broad as the top of the ripple pearl isn't particularly pretty and needed hiding.

OMG bluebirrd, LOVE LOVE the chainmaille with the ripple pearls! PERFECTION! drapey, indeed!

wendy, that is just fabulous, the gold, golden pearl, pink tourms all perfect. and i bet they do allow for movement in wear, even if incidental to the designing of the piece. :)

Thank you, Julie. I think perfection would be white and rose gold, but I'm common folk so alas. Glad you're back :)

A couple of recent pieces I did:

Metallic squares and white center-drilled keshi petals:

Natural colored keshi petals (with purples and pondslime) with ivory off-rounds:

Silver dyed freshwaters with teal overtones knotted with hematite:

And finally, this one really put blisters on my fingers! A 72" endless rope of 5-6mm and 7-8mm baroque freshwaters in lavender tones (though they photograph warmer, the pearls are actually cool-toned).

Battah, that's a pretty collection of different types of pearls. Do I see silver beads in the 72" strand? :)

Yes you do! I used sterling doughnut beads to highlight the larger pearls. I prefer to use argentium usually, but I couldn't find them in that shape/size.

Lisa, what do you mean built upon a spiral..how does that work?

And Battah, that's lovely work and really nice photos !

I thought maybe Wendy had coiled one to three wires loosely, pulled them downward to open them, then strung gem-beads on the opened curves. I need to get my eyeglasses updated:rolleyes:.

I'm not a wire-worker, but I'm trying to visualize...if you wanted 3 spirals, you could use one long wire, form a twist loop in the middle, and another wire roughly half that length plus enough to form a loop at the top of that length,
coil...

Actually, one long piece of wire, put gems on, then coil sounds easier. I'll retire to fiddle around a bit, probably break some wire...I need classes, to catch up with you guys:)

Battah, nice to see what you're doing! You guys are so Accomplished!
