I'm going to Pearl Paradise on Friday to check out the sale strands. They just got in the big bunch they were waiting for I know there is one in that box that will come home with me.
For those interested in comparison shots with my baroque Tahitian stands. Shot next to my three different strands, the first is a rope, followed by two shorter strands.
I really like your new strand...yes the luster is not as sharp, but I have found with larger pearls, the luster is often more satiny/softer....still really nice luster, just not as sharp as your other strands. There also appears to be noticeably less blemishing on the new blue strand than on the others (they are LOVELY, though, so please don't read that the other strands are of lesser appeal).
Thanks for the photos . The difference in luster is more obvious but the pearls are still lovely in shape and colour. You will just have to have a think about what is more important for you . Have you called them and asked for photos of other strands in similar shades ?
The silver pearls listed look lovely. I'm very tempted but I just sent a moonstone off for a custom made ring and I'm also purchasing some pearls from Douglas so I really should resist.
It was a nice oval multi-color one Sea Urchin! I was eyeing that one as well and you saved me from myself. I think it was the best strand in the lot of petite tahitians! Can't wait to see IRL pictures.
I have had the strange notion lately that the pearls in my strands are too big. I did not realize pearl grow-age syndrome was even possible but lately I wear very casual summery clothes (we have a very long summer here) and I feel overdressed in even short 9mm strands. So who knows, 7-8mm might be just right for daily wear. *fingers crossed!*
Strands with alternating big and little Tahitians...big pearl, little pearl, big pearl, little pearl...or big pearl, little, little, little, big pearl...I think those would be so cool.
