Tahitian pearl shopping in Hawaii

Hi Wild Onion,
Your necklace and earrings look perfect on you. Please post a close-up of the earrings. Thank you.

I sent you a PM.

Here you go, Hanaleimom. With the closeup photos, you can tell that the pearl on the left is of a higher grade. It would have been great to find a perfect match, but I'm pretty happy with the color and shape of the two pearls.

Very nice earrings, wild onion. And perfect symmetry is not really critical here, either.

Aloha Wild Onion,
That is a fabulous pair of earrings. I like the midnight blue band on the left pearl. BTW, none of my baroque earrings matched perfectly in shape nor size. Congratulations!

I never figured out why TPM opened downtown either - much less tourist traffic. Maybe they wanted to try out the location first. The rent on Waikiki must be huge. Did you know they offer complimentary round trip transport from Waikiki to the store? I did not take advantage of it, but drove and got complimentary parking in the garage.

I was in Honolulu the last few days and stopped by Tahiti Pearl Market again. I found some affordable gifts for my mom and sister. I chose the same pendant setting for each of them with different color pearls from loose stock. Each loop pendant setting was attached to 2 baroque pearls, 9 & 10mm, on sterling settings. I am having trouble with the modem in the timeshare. For now I am posting in the business office and uploading is not possible.

I saw a white Tahitian keshi strand 10-13mm. It is gorgeous. I took lots of pictures. Will post when I am able.

I love dark, vibrant Tahitians but saw a lot of really nice pastel ones. Quite a few pink ones that caught my eyes. Sorry about the tease, but pictures will come later.

Lots of window shopping this trip too. The availability and quality in Hawaii are many times better than mainland B & M stores. It's so fun to walk from store to store and see many pearls in various gold settings. Here are some eye candy for men at Tahiti Pearl Market. I like the honu (turtle) and slipper pendants made out of mother of pearl in the last picture.

Some strands, pins/brooches, and pendant & earring sets. First two strands are quite large.

Multi-color pearl bracelet with a chocolate pearl on the left side, and a slight blue at the top, next to a pistachio.

I chose loose pearls and had TPM put on sterling silver settings for my Mom and sister. The intention was to have contrasting color pearls on each pendant.

Here are some 9mm loose pearls in blue and pink. The blue has silver tip. The pink has a green overtone. Usually pink gets absorbed on olive skin and gets washed out when worn, but this one still shows its color on me. I thought of Raisondetre when I saw this pink one.

And now to food shopping. Here are some fresh fruits and vegetables at Hanalei farmers market yesterday morning: purple potatoes, cherry tomatoes, ong choy, eggplant, longans, papayas, soursop, okras, red peppers. That's it for today. Going hiking now. Aloha.

Last year I stopped by Savage Pearls in Hanalei. They showed me a 19" baroque, peacock strand, 9.9-11.7mm. It was listed as $9,600 and there was a 25% discount that week, marking it down to about $7,000. The pearls were lustrous, similar to Jeremy's "loot" pearls. I was in town yesterday. The strand is still there, unsold. Inventory turnover must not be good. It doesn't help with the current economic situation.

Looks like you are having lots of fun in Hawaii! I love the keshi strand! Mmmm...

Wow - thanks for taking all those photos and sharing them with us. I bet your mom and sister will love their pendants!
