Tahiti natural fancy colour sets

Gosh, how does one pick fav tahitian colors? I started out liking those with aubergine & peacock but there are so many subtle colors in between them.
I guess they are pearls you really should see in person.

My favourite one would be the lilac one (middle row, the third card, top right pearl) - a definitely rare to see colour in tahitians :)

That lilac reminds me of my favorite pearls in a certain ombre rope of metallic FW drops ... ;)

Oh I remember THAT strand, it's a remarkable one :p ;) I'm glad you enjoy it))

LOL, Lugana, an unforgettable strand I am SO lucky to have custody of! Think of you every time I wear it, and send a big Thank You hug across the waters :)

LondonPearl, may I ask what do you plan to do with those sets? I mean they are multicolour, are they arranged for any particular project?

I have three very vividly coloured tahitian pearls that I think to set in a three stone ring, but would be cool to hear your ideas about your sets :)

I too would love to know the design plans for the 3 pearl sets :)

Aww that's so sweet! You've brought a smile to my face right now)) hugs to you too!!

Hmmmm...That one on the bottom left is singing in color but maybe its its sizr that's popping out.
I'm looking for pearls for earrings in the 9.5 to 10 mm size for my ears but I would imagine a larger pearl really would show the color better.

I wish there was a color chart for tahitians as I'd like to get an idea of the range before I choose.

OOOOOhhh they look like candy....Anything with purple would be great...I just can see a few pairs might be necessary!!! LOL Eggplant/ Aubergine Peacock/ Teal w purple!!!

I like the purple as it tends to bring out the green/ olive color of my eyes. Bright Green tends to make my eyes look more like tigers eye & blue is not as flattering on my skintone but I like aqua/teal too!.

An olive green works too with purple but not seen much of that still I like the above colors better.

I will put that chart up against my eye & skin color on the screen & see what it looks like.
Its helpful

These were colors I was considering but the more I look I see in your chart they can have more bright metallic luster stilll hard to see color in photos

I guess eyecolor skin color & then what color makes your heart sing!

Goodness now I see the difference in aubergine, purple & fuschia...I like the teal w purple alot but that color will bring out the igers eye & I prefer to compliment the green hazel.!

Thanks!!!

That's a fun chart, Lugana. Really, Camelotshadow, this whole site is a big Tahitian chart :) Just search in the search bar for Tahitians or colors of Tahitians and have fun. Do be aware that Tahitians are chameleons, and often change dramatically depending on lighting, colors, reflections etc. For me, that's part of their hypnotic charm; it can make them difficult to buy online. You'd want a trusted vendor for Tahitians, with a great return policy and patience ... we are so lucky here to have those we rely on :)

Camelotshadow, you are very welcome) basically tahitian pearls exist in any colour but actual red (at least I haven't seen it), of course some colours are more difficult to find (especially as a pair) than others, but from the nature's point of view there is almost no limit to fantasy))

From that chart i didn't really believe the existance of neon green until I recently got a pair of drops in that colour)) one of them is in the middle right in the photo. Gosh, I seem to have accumulated a lot of loose pearls :D :D

I like with purple overtones but the bases can be different. I want to mae an appointment with PP as they are somewhat local. I thought I wanted as dark as possible base tone but purple loks nice on a greyish base too but gray tones don;t look well against my skin.

Purple with peacock or teal..Yummy
I think its best to start with a pair I can see in person!

That deep purple aubergine is amazing!

I have been looking but its good to try to associate a name with a color.

Best to see in person if you can, yes!

The best luster and color is usually in smaller Tahitians, which come from younger oysters. Large pearls come from older, larger oysters.

I don't want big///10mm max for earrings...9.5mm ideal..

I did like some 8.5 mm from a reputable source but why would anyone cultivate a small tahitian & would the nacre be more on a slightly larger pearl such as 9 or 10mm?

I really want to stay bet 9 to 10mm.

I'm sure you can get nice colors in that size.

Smaller oyster, smaller bead, smaller pearl; larger oyster, larger bead, larger pearl. Not necessarily more nacre. Tahitians still have to have at least .8mm of nacre per side or they cannot be exported.

This is a strand I bought for my DD 2 years ago from PP (but my DH wears it instead as she turned it down).
It's 8.0-9.7mm. Here is the PP photo:

Great size for a strand! I am under 5 foot tall so not looking for huge pearls...Colors are amazing! That is a rainbow trand but they compliment each other.

Hmmmm true about the .8mm so far...I guess .8mm on a smaller pearl is same as or bettert than .8mm on a larger pearl as more nacre % of bead size.

I didn;t think about smaller oyster size. Guess they have to vary in size & age...

Hmmmm

Wow...
