Sticky residue on Tahitian pearls

Apparently I left my unstrung Tahitian pearls too long on the sticky paper they came on when shipped (from CMW). Now the pearls have a sticky residue on them. Any suggestions? Gentle soap and water didn't help. Do I dare use Goo Gone? Thanks for any suggestions.

Try acetone / nail polish remover. It will remove glue from pearls without hurting the pearls. I wouldn't soak them for too long, though.

I'd use a cotton or gauze pad with the acetone and wipe each pearl then rinse well in distilled or filtered water.

If its just in the one spot on each pearl.. I use a Cue tip / cotton bud to dip in adhesive remover and just gently rub it off .
