I just made it back from China so I thought I would share some of the things I found. The purpose of my trip was to find more pearls like the purloined pearls I had collected last year, so I spent a few days in Shanxiahu visiting factories and asking permission to go through all their loose stock to find uniquely colored pearls that have a sort of bi-color aesthetic and change colors in different light (like the pearl used in Hisano's ring), with emphasis on the darkest colors (especially green/gold). I was able to collect around 700 pearls in total, but the main objective was to teach the factories to find exactly what I'm looking for so they can begin collecting them for a possible Spring launch.

It's going to be special!

I also did some research into the whole souffl? thing and plan to go to Hunan in March to visit the farm producing.

Oh Jeremy, Those are just breath taking!
Glad that you are home safe.

Wow. Those pearls are amazing! I don't suppose any of the baroque pearls will be going into pendants.... what kind of pearls are they - are they freshwater or saltwater?

Love those colours. They are gorgeous. Would love to have a few of them in the baroques, ovals, pearls. WOW. Would make stunning earrings. And people still put down freshwater pearls and consider them inferior. Obviously they haven't seen the so many beautiful fw pearls around today.

The souffl? pearls are great too. I have a strand of souffl? that I am stringing up for my site, but they are nothing compared to these.

These are breathtaking! Very glad to get a peek at what's around the corner. These color-shifting pearls are so exciting. :)

Amazing Technicolor DreamPearls

Amazing Technicolor DreamPearls

Great looking pearls. We have a special fondness for pearls with ephemeral color. I shot some pics yesterday for a client. These are larger bead nucleated Freshwater pearls in the 13X16MM range. The rounder earring pair is 12X13MM bead nucleated and the more baroque pairs are hollow core souffles. The angle of sight and/or lighting has a profound impact on appearance. If Joseph gave his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to his beloved she would want pearls like these to go with it.

Gorgeous Jeremy!

Our beautiful FW just keep getting better, and to have major retailers like yourself pushing the new products is great. I think what you said about educating the processors for what you were looking for is an important part of the evolution of freshwater culturing. Absolutely stunning pearls.

How about some monster souffl? pearls?! One of them is 37 mm long.

They are beautiful Jeremy, well done!! Can't wait to see what you do with them.

No doubt. That pic is the runt of the litter. I'm puzzled why it loaded like that. I'll find someone smarter than me to try again.

Shifting Colors

Shifting Colors

The first two pics feature different types of bead nucleated CFWs topping out at 16MM. The round earring pair up front is 12X13MM bead nucleated. The other pairs are souffles. The outer strand in the 1st pic and the strand on the right in the second are the same strand featured in the last two pics w/shell. The last two pics were shot in natural light about 15 seconds apart. The series demonstrates the impact of angle and lighting on the appearance of these pearls. All were shot on an iPhone. I am an admittedly poor photographer.

Ben, you really need to post bigger photos. Gorgeous, but teeny! :)

Ouch, Blaire. If I had a nickel for everytime a beautiful woman rejected me in that way.....well, nevermind.;) Hope you enjoy my enhancements. Best, Ben

Hah! :) Yes, it was a challenge taking photos of souffle's - but so much fun!
