I don't understand the fashionista, look of the moment mindset. I tend to really like certain colours and silhouettes that work for me. Same with accessories. I love my pearls, my gems and scarves.

Lady_Disdain, I'm a scarf freak too (besides pearls, of course). I still have some of my scarves from high school.

Count me in on that club...although not so much in summer. And to me, fashionista isn't so much about following fashion as it is about creating your own look...Lady_D, your designs are deserving of only the most serious fashionistas.

It is interesting to see what pearls women in power wear. It seems those "Political" pearls are getting bigger and bigger . A bit off topic...but when The Great Gatsby movie came out I was wondering if there would be a boon to pearls into popular culture, particularly since Tiffany & Co did their own signature line of jewelry inspired by the movie. Now I see their pearl pieces from the collection being sold off quite a bit on to sights like The Real Real or Portero etc..

I remember at the pearl show HK a few years ago one of the companies made a beautiful Akoya long rope of 6mm pearls with beautiful ombre tassels. I admired them at the show but thought the Gatsby thing wouldn't sell well. Sure enough the local fancy pants jeweller bought them and put them in the window. They didn't sell .. he's still putting them in his window from time to time. Been years. I'm sure Tiffany had trouble unloading all that stuff.

Katbran, if that jeweler doesn't have enough imagination to figure out what to do with that long rope with tassels, maybe he's ready to unload it on clearance, and we can restyle and make better use of those ombre tassels

I'm ready for some tassels for my longer strands. The Intergem show is coming up next month in my city, and I'm planning on a witch hunt for some ready made tassels that I can wear.
