Hanadama, I just saw your silvers. They are quite unique as well in a single strand. Do they look like metal balls in some lighting? Because of the body color, I assume they can appear shiver than the whites?
If anyone plan to buys these white tahitians, it looks good as a rope. Lucky for newberry to get one of the first picks and in person.
Good idea) that would probably be the most contrast-origin rope I have)) as I've never mixed akoyas with tahitians before) although I do have some ropes in similar look, so apart from pearl-type contrast it wouldn't offer a lot of variety.. It still doesn't go in my head how akoyas could ever look like tahitians. I wish they didn't)) because I really like the uniformity of colour in this tahitian strand - a very well-matched strand colorwise. Those 2 strands are an amazing match ... use matching clasps and you'd have a rope!
I prefer mine different as well.. I do sell some strands on a local market stand - we are sponsoring a K-9 kennel over here and it goes well to that. I anyway buy too many pearls so have plenty left, and I like designing jewellery. But this akoya strand is pretty well worn - it was actually my strand, and I don't really believe into selling/giving away personal pearls. I kind of believe pearls accumulate some energy around them if you know what I mean?.. Please don't call me mad on this))Personally, I'd want my pearl strands to be different and I'd either return the Tahitians or gift or sell the akoyas.
Those akoyas resemble the Tahitians, it's quite difficult to tell appart. But I think technically akoyas have thinner nacre than Tahitians. That's the only difference I can think of. Anyway, both strands are lovely and lustrous
