Sea of Cortez Earrings

Hi Douglas - great to hear from you

yes, 'tricksy' is a very good word for them, but they are the 'top-pearls' in the BV pearl drawer now....... :)

thanks again

Hi Alex - I just posted MY new SofC earrings. Didn't want to hi-jack your post, so I started a new one for mine. These pearls are REALLY HARD to photograph. Different colors each time.

Hi Dian - yes, I just couldn't capture them - as Douglas says, very 'tricksy'

I am upgrading my camera right now ..... but not to Blaire's level..... now that is a SERIOUS camera (with the skill to go with it !!)

Tricksy....yeehhhsss, my precioussssss-es. Buah hah ha! I'm probably only free-associating Gollum because I was wearing my Sea of Cortez earrings today!

yes, I thought hobitisis too - I reckon Gollum would have liked that huge Paspaley pearl that Jeremy was recently pictured holding.....

Blaire - I've just peeked in your album to find your SoC earrings, and found the Carolyn Ehret ones....

how wonderful, just stunning....... :)

I love love love them, thanks! I also have a ring with a mauve-ish pearl that would match YOUR earrings! :) I do have a big killer camera, but most of my pearl photos were done with my little coolpix L5 Nikon on the macro setting. It's all about figuring out what kind of light sets your pearls aglow. (Lots of practice, lots of fails!)

found that ring..... beautiful, is it 22K

maybe my screen, but it seemed like a great match for Dian's mauve SoC earrings (other thread). I had them both up on my screen, plus your CH SoC earrings again, plus BV's sliver-blue SoC earrings (this thread) - yes, 4 SoC screens! - and had great fun moving them around and comparing - like being in an SoC candie-shop !!!!!! :)

Thanks also for the camera info - am just about to upgrade having sold my PS Lumix as I couldn't get on with it - was going to go back to Canon which I always liked, but will have a look at Nikon now as well - may PM you for some more advice

Alex and GemGeek, I LUST over that ring: https://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/members/gemgeek-albums-some-pearl-jewelry-i-own-have-made-picture11095-sea-cortez-ring-drusy-designs.html

That sure would be a nice match for my earrings, and also for my 22k SofC pendant (you can view in my albums). I have a couple of SofC rings, but in sterling. Still lovely. I'll have to keep an eye out for a ring.

GemGeek, I REALLY REALLY want and admire your Eyris pieces. I've been looking, but they are way pricey -- but they are on my 'future list'.

Thanks Pattye - have to confess I am a regular visitor............. :)

here are some more picis of Douglas?s little stars, taken against a begonia

the pearls are from the 2010 harvest

>>> Add Sea of Cortez to my wish list!

Beautiful!

DK :)

Amazing amazing amazing pearls. I absolutely LOVE mine. Mine have more of a mauve, I guess, overtone. Love the lilac-y, blue-ish-y, gray-ish tones on yours. I'm starting to get the itch again for more SofC!
