The following Keshi have a size (12-13 x 22-30 mm).Sometimes I think that they may be not. But my partner tell me that they are Keshi.

Very nice pearls. I suppose the pearls in the second photo could have been formed in the pearl sac after a bar pearl was removed.?? Thanks again for your reports and the photos.

so many pearls, so little time

Ja. The pearls in the second photo were formed in the pearl sac after a bar pearl was removed. The pearls in the first photo were formed in the pearl sac after a coin pearl was removed.

Here are some pearls with excellent quality. I have discussed with my partner for almost one year. This time, they have a lot of pearls, especially pearls from an area, where some pearls have strongest luster (devil luster). So we select the pearls with strongest luster and round form from the first class loose pearls. I have then checked the pearls again. The size are from 8.5-9.4mm. We have made some necklaces with size 8.5-9.0mm and 9.0-9.4mm.
some loose pearls:

some pink and lila:

some multicolor:

The pearls hae very strong luster. Their color can then change with the light and background greatly.

Hi Jun,

beautiful pics. Are the lavenders really that dark?

Hi Jun,

What area of China are these pearls coming from?
You mention that there are certain regions where pearls with an especially high luster are produced - did I get it right?

Hi Inge,
the lavenders in picture are darker than real pearls, and the color on my screen seems to be also different from direction. The background should be white.
Here are two picuters made under natural daylight in the afternoon.

Hi olmander,

Pearls from some areas are more transparent. Pearls from one area have more pearls with strongest luster (devilish luster), but the percentage is still very very small. People told me that probably the water in that area contains rare metal elements. It is still unclear. In one area, there exist good and also bad pearls.

Here are some bead-nucleated pearls with the size (13-16)x(17-21) mm. The luster of bead-nucleated pearls hold on.

The both pictures show the same necklace. The surface on one side is good, but on the other side rough. One farmer has told us that he know the causes, but he cannot solve the problem. Any way, we have preordered some oysters from him.

The colors of Pearls, which are not white here, are natural.
There are also necklaces with good surface on both sides. Of courses, they will be more expansive.
Here are some pearls with a drop form and Diameter larger than 12,5 mm.
The first link pair have a size 14.8x16.8mm. It is difficult to find pairs of large pearls with drop form and good quality.

Hi JWei,

Your pearls look very nice, I especially like the keishis in the first post and those pearls in the second picture of post #8. In the picture, they almost look like the exotics, would be nice to see the "devil luster" in person.:)

Just an impromptu translation joke.

The pearls with the unbelievable luster are called ?Guai Se? 怪色 pearls.

"Guai 怪" means ?monster, demon? or ?unbelievable, strange, terrific or quite, very much? etc.

"Se 色" means ?luster, color? or ?colorful, erotic? etc.

My first thought is to call them erotic pearls, which are also alluring, but it is adequate to the academic research atmosphere here.

During taking photos, I get always different images with the same camera under the same light at the same position even without breathing. So I call them devil or devilish pearls just like some good football teams.

Here is one photo about the bead-nucleated pearls. The luster of bead-nucleated pearls is generally better than the other pearls, but the surface of most bead-nucleated pearls is not smooth generally.
The size of pearls is (12-15)x(16-19)mm.
